My guess is Calgary reached out about Gourde but couldn't afford the price and cap and came down to Jarnkrok, but Jarnkrok may be the better fit for them organizationally.

This is a great trade for Seattle... 3 picks for a pending ufa? Take that and run.

Good return for Seattle. But love the addition for Calgary. I bet Jarnkrok will do really well there in middle six role.
Jarnkrok is a solid fit on the Flames. He can do pretty much everything in the bottom-9. Very very versatile. He has 26 points in 49 games with the Kraken this season but he was off to a terrible start with 0 in his first 12 games. He has been really good since then.

Lol he will be a Sutter fave but any comp to Lindholm is absurd.

Jankrok can play up and down the lineup, reminds me of a slightly less skilled Yanni Gourde. Wouldn’t surprise me if he sees time with Lindholm when injuries happen. He will also help on the PK.

where will jarnkrok play?
Calgary :sarcasm:

Calgary's lines for tonights game without Jarnkrok are:

Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk
Coleman-Backlund-Lewis
Mangiapane-Ruzicka-Toffoli
Lucic-Monahan-Dube
Richardson-Ritchie

He displaces Lewis on the second line if we're talking from a skill POV.
Positionally, Lucic sits out.

Either way that's a pretty formidable forward group.

Jankrok is a good player. He’s a Daryl Sutter type player. Wonder if he becomes Lindholm 2.0.

Monahan is gone this summer for sure.
Nilson 2.0.

Versatile depth forward that can play on any forward line. Really, really good depth addition but definitely not a great price. There must have been some competition for him.

I always wonder with deals like this how giving up a 7th gets included. Is Seattle so hard up that the 7th would be a deal breaker?

At least Treliving has stopped making trades for LA Kings Dmen and focused on improving the team. Harsh price

Jarnkrok is a nice addition to the Flames. The archetypical "utility" player. He can play anywhere in the lineup in almost any role.

I think they may use him in an alignment with Backlund and Coleman to craft Sutter's preferred checking line. He could also center a nice tertiary scoring line with Mangiapane and Toffoli. He gives Sutter a lot more lineup flexibility.

I have to say, Seattle got a very nice return pack. Basically a 2nd + 3rd for a middle-six UFA? Job well done.
