What's the deal with the whole hamburger thing with him? Something to do with the Hamburgler goalie?

Lazar had 20 points last season playing the 9th most minutes among forwards, a 1 1/2 mins on the PK and 119 hits. He was expected to build on that, but was sidetracked this season with a case of mono. I think he's still a good bet to be a forechecking, PK'ing, 30 point forward who is good in all situations.

I hope he does well. He seems like a nice kid.

I don't think he'll get 45-55 points, but I think 20 goals 20 assists "Janik Hansen type" career is perfectly reachable.

how am i obsessed?

Virtanen had 10 games playing with Superstars like Skille and Dorsett averaging 5-6 mins a game.. and WD is an idiot who probably has a personal grudge against him and a love affair with Megna.

and still manage to get a point in less games than Lazar

but ya Lazar>>>>>>Virtanen

:D

Yes, Lazar had two decent years and one really bad year, maybe because of mono..I dont know

Virtanen is seemly just a piece of garbage who is not even fit for the AHL

He's never gonna score points. I'd guess 15-20 is his max, and frankly these days you need more from a 3rd liner. He's has hands of stone, at least in the pros. Ottawa has seen it's fair share of rookies take their time coming into their own, be it Hoffman, Stone, Pageau, Dzingel. All showed a lot more, imo, than Lazar. It'll be nice if he can someday be a part of someone's top 9, but again, those hands...

Doesn't he have 1 point in 30 games or something this year? That's not very Jannik Hansen like.

shh don't ruin this for flame fans.

Hansen was a hard working 200 ft checker and very fast when he broke into the league

Lazar is slow and according to Sens fans has hands of stone.

Jannik had 21 points in his first full season.

Lazar has 36 points in 176 games.

How many points did Nino have for the Isles in 2011-12? What's his offensive upside?

Lazar has always been considered a two-way guy. He just needs to find the right coaching/mentor, role, and line-mates for success.

Hard to score lots playing marginal minutes with scrubs after recovering from mono.

Lots of guys have ups and downs. He's only 22.

Lazar had 20 points in what was (just about) his first full season. Terrible argument.

Hansen was a year older than Lazar is now in his rookie season and didn't have mono.

Lazar isn't slow either.

Lazar is a good kid. The mono and new system and such pretty much killed this season for him. Kid works hard, has a good attitude, and has decent ability.

He can carve out a good career on the bottom 6 once he gets back on track.

I like the move for the Flames. Little bit of risk with a some reward. He sounded really happy on his interview with the Fan960 to be coming to Calgary.

The kid is always happy. He is really a great kid. I hope things work out for him

Lazar works hard but he just couldn't figure it out this season.

I think management thought too highly of what he could be so they soured on him when he didn't meet their expectations.

I think a fresh start in Calgary could work out well for him. I don't think he'll ever be a top 6 player but there's no reason he can't be a solid bottom 6 guy for 5-10 years.

Who ever said Lazar is slow doesn't know ****, he is a fine skater. Lazar playa hard but in Ottawa that's about all he has brought to the table. I liked him and wanted to give him more time but his lack of contribution had become frustrating. It could be partly a confidence thing becuase especially of late he has been making some uncharacteristic plays. The puck has been a grenade and resulted in turnovers that have lead directly to goals. Outside of this last stretch of games he hadn't been a liability. There's hasn't really been a moment where I've thought Lazar showed signs of being a solid offensive contributor, his offenseive contributions have been a result of going hard to the net or odd man rushes. When he is effective it's when he is using his speed on the forecheck. I believe he can still become a good bottom 6 player but I doubt he has what it takes to score 20 in a season. I wish him the best of luck in Calgary, a change of scenery should be benificial.

That guy was an abortion of a hockey player. Are you saying he's been good for calgary? ????

He was as huge whipping boy when he was played on our 1st line. Quite a few of us have been quite happy with him in our bottom 6. If Lazar can add a similar physicality into the bottom 6, I will be happy.

Most flames fans didn't want to get rid of Baertschi for one and Granlund still kind of sucks he's shooting 16% and isn't even at 0.5 points per game. On top of that a lot of us aren't even fans of this trade, but at the same time we traded a 2nd it isn't the end of the world.
Well now you know how Canuck fans felt when they dealt for Baertschi lol.

Arguing Lazar/Virtanen is like what is better between having your toes cut off, or your fingers cut off.
