Just consider the following. When Ime was head coach he had a staff let's say the count was 10. Then Ime gets yanked the staff number goes down to 9. Mazzulla get promoted to intern coach so his staff goes down to 8. Then 2 or 3 of the 8 coaching assistant leave for other jobs. Mazzulla's staff is down to 5 or 6. This is his first head coaching job via a Celtic's situation. He wasn't ready to be a head coach under Ime but he got the job. So he wasn't ready to be a Head Coach and his staff is half the size of any other experienced coach and Mazzulla is totally inexperienced to be a HC. Then Brad and Wyc promote him and give him $2 M dollars a year while other HC's make $8 to 10 Million a year. Are you getting the picture? He got screwed when he needed experience help on his staff and took all the blame for an F-up team. He should not be fired IMO

The narrative among the talking heads today was you consider moving Brown to get a player who can help you win a title now, even if it shortens your overall contention window.

Interesting.

Say you could deal Brown for a soon to be 33 year old Lillard. You get the one title, but that’s it.

Worth it?

To me yes. I just don't see Brown as a player you can give a supermax to and still expect to win a championship, especially not with the new CBA creating a harder cap limit. If you can pair Dame and Tatum for the next 3-5 years and get a championship out of that then it's worth it.

The other could be to see if the Blazers would trade Anfernee Simons or Shaedon Sharpe + 3rd overall pick for Jaylen. Gives the Blazers a legit all nba player to pair with Dame, we get one of Scoot or Miller to pair with Tatum long term along with a solid young player.

First thing Nick Wright has said....probably ever....that I've agreed with.
That's why I posted it. I hate Nick Wright. But I did not know the Celtics were all time level bad at home in the playoffs last two years. It doesn't make any sense.

Yep absolutely. However not a fan, Lillard offers scoring and nothing else. If he is the only star they can get for a walking Brown, I do it. Tatum would not be happy though. ...

Championship teams aren't this bad at home

Sorry but I can't Nick Wright seriously here. I'm not going to dispute that Mazzula and the Celtics coaching staff is inadequate, because they are and the staff in general is a shell of themselves. Especially when you consider the fact that this team played much tighter under Udoka and Stevens previously on both ends of the court whereas Mazzula doesn't have a game plan most nights and just sits there with his mouth open like his brain short circuited. That all being said, Wright isn't taking into account the fact that all of this would've been glossed over if the Celtics were healthy from the jump and didn't have Brogdan and Tatum go down with injuries that ultimately gimped them. Tatum going down changed the momentum of that entire game. No team recovers from losing their top superstar. I love Jaylen, but he needs Tatum more than the other way around. On top of that, there's also the fact that there was recently another referee scandal (again), calling into question the quality of the officiating of the NBA for the second time this century after the Tim Donaghy ordeal and how impartial they are (never mind if they are on the take). Everyone has seen the questionable decisions Scott Foster and Tony Brothers has made in the past decade plus in these critical games, and we are still going to bury our heads in the sand and not act as if the refs don't play a factor? That league can be more predetermined than WWE sometimes.

like our entire celtics team who just got destroyed by jimmy butler and a bunch of *undrafted players*

how much has this celtics team of pretenders won....

I mean, a f***ton more than Karl Anthony Towns teams. A f***ton of a f***ton more, really.

They had a lot of the same issues with Brad and Udoka. Couldn't run an offense in crunch time, blew big leads, had mental lapses

The conversation a few weeks ago was to trade Tatum and keep Brown lol. I'm not going off a snap shot for making any decision on a trade
Ok, I understand. IMO Brown has always been a problem especially ball handling (turnovers) basketball IQ, driving through 3 or 4 people to make a shot, etc. He has never been able to step up in big moments when Tatum is down. Just saying.

Why does anyone give a shit how much Mazzula makes? Unless it prevents them from firing him (if and when they decide to move on) the amount doesn't natter. Doesn't count against the cap. It's just pocket change to billionaires.

It's a DNA thing, sure. That said...Udoka in particular was able to fix that to an extent by keeping the egos of the players in check and challenging them as well. We don't know if he would've been able to pull out some of the nonsense hard coded into the core of this team, but I think Udoka could've done this more than Mazzula. Mazzula seems to just pat the players on the back and lets them do as they please.
