I mentioned this in the main Bourque thread, but I still am curious about how he will hold up at the NHL level.
I have no doubt he's going to be a good NHL player, but for me it's just a matter of how good. I could see him as a 3rd line center/PP specialist guy easily, probably around a 35-40 point guy. I could also see him as a top 6 playmaker and great 2-way player, probably around 60 point potential.
He's not a great skater, definitely worse than Johnston & Stankoven. Better skater than Robertson of course though, just not a fast skater or very agile by any means. That's never been an important aspect of his game though since he's one of those playmakers who likes to draw guys to him, hold them off, and then pass it to a teammate in open space. If you're gonna play like that though and not be a great skater, it usually requires strength which again isn't his strongest asset. He's not a flashy skill guy either so he's not dancing his way out of these situations either.
I'd give him a 50/50 chance he ends up as either of the above options, assuming he becomes a NHL regular someday which he should. He's such a smart player though that I wouldn't bet against him. Guys like him find a way to be impact players. Usually end up very underrated too
