what happened in CP tonight?

Here's what I know:

Sturtz scores the OT winner, and gets hit pretty hard in the boards just as the puck crosses the goal line. The CP players all jump on the ice, one of them, Adam Lloyd, taunts the Pembroke players with excessive celebration. Pembroke's Stephen Beauvais passes by Lloyd, and hits him with a right. Lloyd goes down, and seems hurt.

At this point, players from both teams are on the ice. Two or three fights are about to happened, but the refs do a good job separating everyone. Near CP's bench, Dale MacTavish can be seen going after Jason Clarke. At this moment, both head coaches have to be restrained by their assistant coaches.

When all this is over, Pembroke leaves the ice surface first. The refs tell the CP players to remain on the ice. However, Jason Clarke takes the side door, and goes straight towards the Pembroke dressing room with a stick in his hand. Pembroke players and coaches are now engaged in a verbal discussion with Clarke, while the CP players, and assistant coaches are still on the ice. At one point in the verbal exchange, Dale MacTavish punches Jason Clarke with a pretty good right. Some people I've talked to say Clarke was sucker punched, others say Clarke should have known the punch was coming, so I won't elaborate on this.

I may have missed some other stuff, but that's pretty much what I know right now.

Based on what you've said, I sure hope the two players and coaches are not at the game Sunday....
We really don't need this type of behaviour in this league. No discipline.....to bad.
Kudos to the refs for keeping a lid on the players.

I was commentating the game for Carleton Place. You got all the important parts. I was told that Lloyd wasn't sucker punched by anyone, though. He just fell and got hit on the way down accidentally.

It's worth noting too that I as the Pembroke players left the ice they were getting into it with some fans near the exit to the ice. From my view in the commentator's booth, it looked like something was thrown, but I'm not sure who threw it or what was thrown.

I can't verify your story about Clarke getting punched, but the rest of Carleton Place were held on the ice for a few minutes. I assumed it was so the Police officers had a chance to settle everyone down (there were a few of them in the hallway when I went back to the dressing rooms). I also talked with Jason after and he didn't look like someone that had just been punched.

I imagine there will be some precautions taken ahead of this Sunday's game in Pembroke.

Hopefully sunday isnt " I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out".
Its not a thing thats needed in the league.
This isnt the LNAH in Quebec.

What about the two coaches? If they are not suspended (especially MacTavish), it's a complete joke. But again, I think we all agree that Kevin Abrams doesn't have the balls to make such a call....

Especially MacTavish???? He threw a punch, but Clarke had a stick in his hand that he had carried from the ice into the locker room area. Some might call that premeditated and possibly a weapon. If suspensions are not equal in this one, it's a travesty.

I watched as he went from the bench to the locker room. He did not have a stick in his hand. Either him having a stick is just a rumor, or he picked one up when he got to the locker room hallway.

Also, both teams got fined an undisclosed amount along with Beauvais' suspention.

The two most penalized teams. No surprise. Lack of discipline all year in Pembroke. Sheldon is missed by both Kings fans and this league!!

PLK did not want to engage and it was the Bayliss and Sturtz show. No PLK player would touch these guys.

Discipline ? Coaching !

The playoffs will be very exciting. Just in case this was missed by the HF Boards faithful:

Not sure who won the fight, but it was clear that CPC dominated this game.

Who ever approved John Hill as an owner???? Everyone in the hockey world should have known what he was like. Both him and Hawkins have ruined Kanata more than it already was. I feel sorry for the players. At least with Findlay, Sullivan and Bell the players had stability and commitment. Now they have nothing but 2 idiots running the show 100%.

8 by my count (Maybe 9, not sure if an assistant quit with Dewan or not)

Foster and his two assistants quit
Dewan +1 ?
Kennedy quit
New guy and two assistants quit

All good hockey guys where the rubber meets the road. Geez, wonder just what might be the problem here as this revolving door started very shortly after John Hill took over...............:shakehead Stay tuned

Maybe that clown and his finger puppet Hawkins will waddle their fat azzes onto the bench for the game tonight. If that's the case, it'd be worth the price of admission even for a Kanata game to watch those two try to climb up on the bench :laugh::laugh:

Wouldn't that be a sight to see...

We can all agree it's very unfortunate that nothing is done about this
There must be something the teams in the league can do along with Abrams ..
These people are terrible for the cchl

Amazing to see how far Kanata has fallen.

It's a joke, really.

While the name-calling and chirps are a bit much, going through nine coaches to stand on the bench in less than a full season is a farce.

The team is a joke - hardly any better than some of the best junior b teams in the area.

It's interesting though - Hill had success at OJC in Junior B, but can't seem to replicate it in the CCHL. At all.

Kanata needs to find some stability.

My guess is Hawkins goes behind the bench next - he was on the bench with Almonte last year when they surprised people all the way to the Western Conference final.

:help:

It is hard to translate success managing a team in Jr B into the Jr A level. They are not even close when it comes to building a team. In Junior A players come from across North America and you compete against every other Junior A program to get the best. It takes a long time to build up the connections you need to be successful, plus you need to spend money on recruiting. There are local players and a draft but you still need out of area kids to be successful.

In Junior B the majority of your players come from the Ottawa area or are going to school here, very few players come from out of district to just play Jr B. OJC has a very strong protect area and is located close to Carleton, Ottawa U and Algonquin giving them a distinct advantage, much like OW.

If Hawkins is the coach there's major trouble because from the sounds of it the players do not like him
And one of the reasons the staff quit was a confrontation between staff and management where the coaches were standing up for their players

Maybe the Kanata players will go on strike? Refuse to play/report?

Hawkins can bring in a bunch of peewee house leaguers as scab players. It wouldn't be far off of the recruiting they've been doing

Hawkins as the coach......Jesus he can't even perform his duties as GM, imagine him on the bench...... I agree it would be worth the price of admission..... It would look so good if players did not report to play tonight. However, I know that is not fair to ask of any player. Unfortunatley, it is them sufferring. :( They just want to play and be noticed. The few games that I saw, they were responding to the coaching staff. There was good chemistry amongst them all. And it only took 2 bad apples to spoil the bunch.
I am friends with one of the billets and I don't know what happened to make the coaching staff resign but it certainly does not look good on Hill or Hawkins.

Everyone needs the chance to climb the ladder at some point but as everyone has said, Hill nor Hawkins have the knowledge or ability to run a JR A team.

I still cannot understand where Cory Greer's presence has been during all this. Does he actually own the team? If the league approved Hill as owner then they too are just as much to blame.

Can someone explain to me how kanata can have a coach on the bench who is serving a 4 game suspension from the league ?

What in the world is Abrams thinking allowing that?
This is junior A hockey!

There are no exceptions for anyone

This took all my respect away from Mr Abrams and how the CCHL is run

Kanata just lost 5-2 to Cumberland tonight. Grads scored five times on 16 shots, led 5-0 at one point.

Joey Solazzo with a big night 2g/2a, while Brandon Zullo 2g/1a - impressive to see the development of those two.

If Nepean doesn't pick things up down the stretch, I genuinely think the Grads might catch them. Was floored by how...bad...they were when I saw them the other night in Gloucester. Easily the worst Raiders team in a decade. Record-wise, they're on pace to be the worst Raider team since 95-96 (ouch).

Can't see Nepean picking up many points this weekend with Pembroke (away), Cornwall (showcase), and Brockville (away) on the slate.
