Cumberland 9 Kemptville 7

Cumberland beginning to find the back of the net - although still giving up too many odd man rushes against....Entertaining tilt today with Coach Tugnett shown the door for whining about the officiating - from this vantage point the 73s deserved the PIM's they received

Should be interesting days leading up to Jan 10

Leger seems to have done some good things. They will be better by next year year. Trades have made them younger but should be better for future. If this core of players including St Pierre and Douglas can stay together things might be looking up in Grads land.

I would like to agree but the same thing has been said for the past five years or so......

I also watched, would agree that many were deserved, although some borderline calls at best, but I would also say that it was a poorly officiated game in that many penalties that should have been called against the Grads were ignored. It is often the calls that are not made that make for a poorly officiated game, not those that are called.

Gross Misconduct - Travesty of Game

So how many games does Tugnutt get suspended for this infraction. I thought he was just tossed from the bench, saw this morning on the score sheet that it listed as "Travesty of Game" which is a Gross Misconduct....I believe a player gets a 3 game suspension for this penalty, not sure what a Coach gets......

Maybe Coleman/Featherstone should get the suspension for making the league look bad. A penalty shot call and 13 (kem) - 6 (grads) penalties yesterday. Maybe Coleman should lose some weight so he can keep up with the play and make a good call once in a while. The OJHL uses OHL calibre refs, maybe the CCHL should do the same.

Absolutely agree 100%!
Only not fair to single out those two bad refs. LOL!
I have been asking for years why not use OHL calibre refs?
Anyone remember a ref by the name of Lucas? Last good ref I can remember...

The reff's are as good as the players. They make mistakes, like the players. They don't make a living in this league, like the players.

I suppose we could also ask for OHL caliber coaches, GM's, scouts, ...but then we would be the OHL wouldn't we.

Way to quiet!

I am surprised that we have not seen any deadline deals this week…there must be something coming soon.

I understand Cornwall Colts may have 4 cards. Based on last evenings game in Cumberland, they will need them.

3 Wins in the last 10 games ? Time to get to work.

Good for Cumberland Grads. Big 7 - 2 win.

Very good point and their coach needs to sharpen his pencil soon if he wants to actually turn this team around and sign a few players. Too many average to below average 18-19 year old players and they need more depth on the back end.

It is the Cornwall Colts owner and GM that need to sharpen their pencil, not the coach. OOPS same person. That may be the problem ????

IM typically does not spend $$$ to obtain players. He utilizes the draft and is able to secure players based on trading draft pics together with the Colts reputation and hockey program. Based on the past 10 games the Colts desperately need to improve the back end and they could use a sniper. Goal tending may now be an issue too.

Where do you find these guys now without selling the farm ? It could be a very short playoff run for the Colts and an early exit at the FPC.

I am sure the Gran Puba will figure it out. He usually does.

I'm going to guess that Dubblestyne is burnt out and might be the reason he's been struggling lately. Has Edwardson had his surgery yet?

Surgery was complete in September, one week after the proper diagnosis was established. Rehab is complete and he has been practising with the Colts on ice since early December.

As of January 5th 2015, James has signed to play with the Montreal Est Rangers in the QIHL. The team had 180 goals scored in 35 games and allowed 183 goals against. With a better back end and goal tending the 7th place team could make a run. It appears the QJHL is more of a "run and gun" old time hockey league. James will see a lot of pucks and will be good for his development as he seeks a NCCA opportunity.

QJHL, worst place to get NCAA visibility, especially for goalies!!!

Good luck to him. What did Cornwall get in return? PDF?

Yes PDF. The interest and visibility is already in place based on academics. It is better to play in the QJHL than to sit on the bench in the CCHL. There is always drama on the Colts in regards to goalies. The current situation is no different. Nichol may be better than Dubblestyne but he needs an opportunity to play too.

QJHL at 5-6 goals a game will not confirm that he can play at a higher level. You can only play for a couple of teams in that league to look any good as a goalie! Scouts don't look at games.

It is the wild wild east for sure. I don't think they know what a defenceman is supposed to do.

You are SOOOO right! Defencemen there are simply additional wings, available only to pinch and shoot and set up odd man rushes going the other way the entire game. Only 2 goalies have under a 3.00 GAA this year and they're both on Sherbrooke. 9 between 3-4.00 and 32 over 4.00, many at 5,6,7 GAA. There are absolutely NO NCAA scouts there and the players refer to it as the "graveyard". IMO it would be much better to play JuniorB in the EOJHL or the GOJHL with a real chance to be seen by someone and defencemen actually playing defence. Several of the teams practice sporadically. It's a good place for a short stint and get out quickly.
