Whats going on on in Gloucester?

What do you mean ? Same as every year.

The team has talent and under performs. The players get frustrated and want out.

"The fish rots from the head down" It is all about the management / owner here.

Gloucester 3 Nepean 2

The Rangers have plenty of talent and they just beat a very good team. Perhaps there is hope afterall.

Rules

Interesting blog by Rocketgirl on the OJHL's crackdown on helmet wear. It appears that the league is quite concerned over the possible liability issue and it has been goaltenders who have been the most recent target of rule application. If a goalie removes his helmet at the end of the period skating to the bench or dressing room, the player is being issued a Gross Misconduct. There is an exception for the goalie to lift his mask to take a drink. Removal of the chin strap by any player would bring the same Gross Misconduct. http://localsportsreport.com/gojhl/2014/09/30/new-enforcement-of-the-rules/

In the pre-season, the local CCHL teams playing against OJHL teams learned of the OHA's strict adherence to not crossing the red line during warmups. In the opening game of the Junior C season for Deseronto, this team had 7 players assessed Warmup Violation misconducts http://ohasiteeb.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=2489274

However, on the Deseronto team only two players were guilty of crossing the red line infraction. The other five players were assessed misconducts as the players stood on the goal line during the National Anthem. This same penalty can be assessed if a player is moving during the playing of the National Anthem. http://www.network54.com/Forum/1630.../Would+there+not+have+been+a+better+decision- The above blog by Rocketgirl describes the OHA's rationale to curb disrespect

This same blog by Rocketgirl links to a more humorous incident in which neither team would move even after the National Anthem was concluded. It was all about gamesmanship that the referee had to threaten forfeiture to the visiting team before the opening faceoff could happen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_6cFJcs75Y

If any reader has a link to our own local league rules, it would be interesting to read what rules are in place for warmups, departing the ice surface, helmets, national anthem, etc.

IM not happy after losing to the Grads ? Now that is an under statement of the day !!!! He probably called Benson Auto Parts this morning for a "new head gasket".

It was an interesting hockey Sunday:

Parity: Gloucester beats Nepean Hawks beat Pembroke Grads beat the Colts

It appears any team can win on any given day.

Glouc > Nep
Hawks > Pem
Grads > Colts
Kan > 73's + Kan OT loss to glouc

Its junior hockey. Depending who shows up on any given night, its anyone's game.
We have to keep in mind these teenagers and have ego's. Its easy to slip up a night or two, especially with a team of older guys.

Dewan won that race with the fight vs. management in Kanata.

I wonder how Kennedy is enjoying his tryout? he must realize after Dewan & staff leaving so early in the season
that's its a tough go with the operations they're running

Hawks

Remember when people thought the Hawks were going to be a last place team….currently tied for 4th OVERALL. 3 wins in a row including 2 wins against tough teams, PLK and Brockville. Kudos to them on turning things around again. Also the are playing pretty clean hockey. Seems like they have learned how to do things right. 3 guys in the top 10. (including Mandigo who people questioned.) Plus Rivers seems to have figured the league out. Good to see a historic franchise back where they should be.
Great staff too. Henderson, Anderson, Dorval and Nistico have built a good team. :handclap:
If they keep up this pace Henderson for GM of the year IMO.

It is 11:58 am. Are you drunk ? There is no doubt the Hawks look great, at this time. And they are doing the right things. They are not the goons of the past and they are playing disciplined hockey.

However, they have played 16 games of a 62 game schedule. A lot of things can happen.

There are a lot of strong personalities on that bench and management. There may be a "love in" now, but if it goes south, the wheels will come off the bus quickly.

It would be great to see the Hawks continue their winning ways. Hawks are my 2nd favorite team.

Ok I just moved to Kanata, I seen years of jrB hockey loved it. last year the best game seven in JrB . Started to go to JRA Kanata OMG Jr C is were this team should play. No value there. Players upset, Coach can not run a bench. very little talent, this hurts JRA. very sad day for hockey, fans players parents. hope the league pulls this team out of Jr A . Till they get a owner, mangers , etc that can run aTeam.

I haven't seen many Kanata games this year, but I did watch last week vs. Kemptville.
I can tell you that during that game they played well and things were not out of norm.

I cant believe you just mentioned pulling a team and placing them in JrC. Regardless of how things are going that's the dumbest thing I've heard. Maybe you need to stick to jr.B games.

Secondly you cant blame it on the coach, he's only been there 2 weeks.
Players play and compete.

Time will tell once Kennedy has time with his players.

You are right, I will stick to JrB hockey over what I saw in Kanata. As for the coach I do not care if he has be there for 2 weeks or 2 years from what I seen he can not run a JRA bench. or he is a YES man. very sad.

a "yes man" to what? to who?

you would believe a man with Kennedy's resume is no "yes man"
he has more experience then any of the management/owners

He may have more experience, but who pays the bills?

Experience??? in JR where? MANGER IN JR ? owner? coach? Ass Coach , water boy? come on Kanata needs hockey people from the head down. for the players in Kanata waste of time money. hope you get a refund. I feel for you. As for me I will go see CP or Nepean. or Rams or Ottawa west Great hockey.

I don't think anyone expected kanata to be competative this year
It's been said more then once they are building
Over half their players are new to junior

Look at kemptville they struggled for years
And even after all those big picks can't seem to win

Smith falls are struggling and they actually have players that can produce

Cumberland hasn't been good since akeson and Odell

The only thing new is Ottawa success and an inner city team
Otherwise the story goes as as it did the year before

Kemptville
Clearly you misunderstood me. [mod] I was merely replying to the comment of the coach having "more experience" than the GM/John Hill (puppetmaster)

They are not hockey guys, but they pay the bills, therfore as with Dewan (hockey guy) Kennedy can hit the road if he wants to disagree with the way ahead, his choice to make.

John Hill's "success" at jr B was mainly due to having the franchise money to drag Taylor Collins and others to Ottawa from Arnprior, he's no genius.

AND more then half of Kanata players will not be playing next year, when you loss all the time, and you will not get good players to Kanata. Ask Jason in CP from day one he coached to win, runs a great bench. win win hockey. Kanata it is ok to loss as long as everyone plays. long shifts, bad changes, etc. Coaches make or break a team. As long as there hands are not tied, and if they are you are not doing your job.

73's have have had some pretty good players out of the lineup due to injury like Brown, Seatter, Galasso, Haasbeek plus the Blais issue they had to deal with. All teams go through this but they seem to have been hit really hard early in the season. If they could get healthy I still think they can be a decent team.
