I'll be honest, Gaudreau is going to play with Fantilli regardless of Adam's possible excellent chemistry with Laine. Because Johnny (in this case I hope Laine wouldn't play in this line).

Further, Jenner will be playing in the top 6. And since Boone would love to play center, he'll play it.
I'll be happy to be wrong but certain players have their positions.

P.S. I doubt Marchenko is bubble. Also Roslovic could be traded.

Preferring to split JG and Laine to get two strong lines, that I get butI honestly I just don't understand why you hate them together so much. Remember they only get to play like 5 games or something together with a healthy D group before Werenski got hurt and during that time they had a game together where they had like 20 shots on goal and gave up none, or maybe 1, out of like 3 or 4 shot attempts. They scored none that game because the pucks weren't going in, but they could just as well have had 4 or 5 goals, it was not lack of looks or opportunities. Also to be honest JG wasn't too good last season without Laine, though I would expect that to change as well with better D and Johnny playing closer to his absolute best.

It depends also on other players, a situation where you can split Laine & JG to have two really good lines would be great, but for that to happen you need other guys as well to make it possible. I believe either one of them can carry a 2nd line to relative greatness by themselves, but probably not the 1st. There's like maybe 3 players in the league who can do that. Depending on how other players do, you might kinda need them together to have a good 1st line. If that's the case, so be it, I'd rather have a very good top line and a meh 2nd line than a meh top line and great 2nd line.

Why should I hate them? I'm just pointing out the fact that if Jarmo signed Johnny, it certainly wasn't to make his center a bottom 6 player (note, I'm talking about the center position, not wing). And the Nyquist -- Jenner -- Laine line has played outstanding (remember 2021/22 season). Now find a player to replace Nyquist and lines could theoretically be:

xxx -- Jenner -- Laine
Gaudreau -- Fantilli -- xxx

Last year blankenburg was one of your best d and a spark plug when he was healthy. He was even good on the first pair which werenski before they both got injured (Larsen told we’ve just lost our first pairing). He forced his way last training camp by being really good.

I know his health issue are concerning but if he is healthy like he seems to be why is everyone from fans to organizations still penciling him as a 7th/call up bubble guy. Why does he still need to prove himself to earn a spot. I mean, for me he is clearly better than peeke, Boqvist or gudbranson.

There's your answer. He has to prove he can play his natural high-compete game and stay healthy, like he did prior to injuries last year.

I understand that but when he is available and healthy shouldn’t he be a lock to be in the lineup to have the best possible 6 guy on the ice? Like werenski he is always injured but when he his available he will play #1 d minutes because when healthy he is the best. I don’t see the point to not play a better player because he might get hurt. The lesser guys should be the one to cover for him if he goes down not the other way around in my mind

There was talk last year (I think HC Larsen said this) that he needed to tone down his physicality because he was struggling to stay healthy, and I believe that affected him negatively towards end of the season. He was much less effective defensively, it looked like he had made adjustments to his game and it wasn't a total success immediately.

If he can play as he has today he should probably be in the top-6 but that's far from a guarantee.

Not a name I heard rumored

Looks official

I read a Reddit thread from when he was fired. Apparently all of New Jersey rejoiced because they hated the way he managed their power play. One guy said something like “If the devils don't hire a new powerplay coach they would still have a better powerplay than under Recchi.”

In an earlier post, I noted that I didin't know much about Vincent's style of play. After Portzline's latest Sunday column it is more clear. I could be wayoff, but it almost sounds as if he wants to play a left wing lock, or one forechecker deep clogging the neutral zone and pounce on mistakes creating offense out of them.

He says he's offensive minded also, so doubtful it'll be anything like the old Devils teams of Lamoriello and Lemaire.

Some of Vincent's points
-Track the puck and backcheck
-Slow opponent through neutral zone
-Attack and protect the slots
-Defensive zone play simplified
-Center and defense play must be better

These are mostly canned responses that any coach utters in his sleep. It will be interesting to see how team responds. Most players now a day like to play a free flow and look for the pretty play, so defensive style in your face hockey is almost a bygone (until the playoffs!).

Laine in the middle, figured we would see it at some point. Excited to see Marchenko back on the ice.

Speaking of which, does Marchenko have a nickname?
