I would like more:

Johnson -- Laine -- Marchenko
Gaudreau -- Fantilli -- Texier

I'd also consider Voronkov in the top 6 (prefer to Laine) when he's ready. Not because of stats, but he's a bulldozer, and also a similar provocateur like Matthiew Tkachuk.
I like those lines and I’m pretty sure that they would work ok, but I’m still inclined to have Laine and Fantilli sharing C duties and building on the on-ice bromance. If they are both having fun on the, it’s a huge win in my book.

Central Ohio
Werenski - Blankenburg
Provorov - Severson
Boqvist - Peeke
Gudbranson

Texier - Fantilli - Laine
Gaudreau - Jenner - Roslovic
Marchenko - KJ - Danforth
Robinson - Kuraly - Bemstrom

I could handle these. Keep Foudy as the extra forward. I’d also be very open to a trade offer for any of Robinson, Bemstrom, Roslovic, or Peeke if they look good early.

jenner had roslovic skating on his wing in practice the other day… i wonder if we could see a gaudreau-jenner-roslovic line? would give them a secondary puck carrying threat. i don't think roslovic is much of a step back shooting-wise from marchenko, he just doesn't use his shot as much.

then you could keep texier-fantilli-laine together. that would probably mean a johnson-sillinger-marchenko third line (or voronkov/danforth at center) which doesn't seem awful, although ideally both of those wings would get more ice time.

There’s a lot to consider with the forward combinations especially with Laine getting a test drive at center. In the end I’m confident it will work out and if Laine doesn’t stick at center, I like @majormajor proposed lines.

Like many here, my biggest concern is at net. We are forced to give Elvis his run because of his contract. I hope he finds his game but I say that with limited belief that he will. Just as concerning is that Tarasov cannot stay healthy. We can debate his talents to infinity but if he can’t stay healthy it doesn’t matter. This team needs a vet not named Dell to provide a safety net. If Tarasov needs to be exposed to waivers, I no longer care.

The thought of depending on Elvis this season fills me with such dread. And I liked Elvis so much! Obviously I'm a Korpi fan but I have never been an Elvis hater, just more of a... skeptic recently. And I am deeply skeptical that he won't sink the season starting game one. If Elvis falters, I bet we see a big classic Jarmo deal for a real goalie.

A career .885 SV%, Im sure he'd be welcome with open arms
Lol yes. But just for depth reasons. He’s also cheap. If Tarasov is out longer than they thought and they don’t want Greaves/Dell in the AHL by themselves.

I dont know how the team feels but I was significantly more impressed with Cajan this year vs last. I think hes looked good enough to cover some AHL time in the event of injuries

Cajan still has one year left on his Monsters contract, so he will most likely be here.

Now you have jinxed us - tomorrow they’ll announce Roslovic signs 6 x $6.5 million extension.
And yet there are posters above suggesting penciling him in on the second line with Jenner and Gaudreau...even over Marchenko. Is there a more polarizing player on this team?

Don't forget olivier
i think olivier and bean both start the season on IR. even if olivier is close to returning by opening night, i think they send him to the AHL for a conditioning stint first.

roslovic absolutely stinks and i've wanted him gone for years, but i also think he'd be fine with jenner and gaudreau.

he's not a center and he can't elevate his linemates, but he's talented enough to win one-on-one battles when he has the puck on his stick, he's a good skater with the puck and he has a plus shot. if you put him in a situation where he is purely a passenger and can change his game to "skate fast + shoot hard" i think he could be productive.

productive enough to warrant an extension? absolutely not. enough to establish a little bit of trade value? hopefully.

edit: in other words, jack roslovic tries to play like he's a skilled #1 center, but can't (or doesn't want to) do any of the defensive stuff that entails, and doesn't see the ice well enough to effectively do the passes he wants to do. if he reinvented himself as a skilled sniper on the wing, he would probably be pretty good.

Haven't been able to watch any Pre-season games but been wanting to watch CBJ pretty heavily.

How is Tex/Jiricek/Svozil looking?

Texier great
Jiricek a mixed bag. Needs more time in the AHL.
Svozil I don’t honestly know.

Anyone know when the AHL training camp kicks off? Interested because it's usually when they make the bigger roster cuts.

Texier is a beast, he wins battles. I don't think his timing on passes is great but they'll hopefully get used to each other. We really missed him. He's been good for the line with Fantilli and Laine.

Jiricek is brilliant but his rush defense is still really porous. It still looks like he's a full year away.

Svozil might just be gassed from camp. He's not looking impressive so far. A lot of guys showed up bigger and faster and he didn't.

This is speculation over which goalie the Lightning should claim on waivers, but a lot of it should be relevant for the Jackets too. And we have the cap space to pick up Vladar.

Maybe I missed it but have they said what Tarasov injured this time?

Does it matter? There are better goalies on waivers.
