Gaudreau Jenner Johnson
Texier Fantilli Laine

Let's go!!!

I do think there’s potential here as an effective top 6 while also leaving a lot of skill for the bottom six (namely Marchenko, Roslovic, Sillinger, Chinakhov, or however it shakes out).

I also think Laine hasn’t developed any chemistry with really anyone to this point so sticking him with two highly touted new(ish) players early in camp makes sense.

He has a little bit with Roslovic but thats obviously more beneficial to Roslovic than Laine.
Fantilli-Laine definitely have some qualities on paper that sound like they could work. Im also excited to see if Texier has developed any patience to his game, could be really fun all around.

That first and last shot by Laine, both incredibly accurate. The way the first bounces around looks cool.

Hopefully we'll see a lot of this on PP this season.

Edit: Now that I looked closer, the last shot also took a double bounce like the first one. Both hit the white bar and bounce back to inside of post. That's pretty insane, dialed up for sure

Nyquist -- Jenner -- Laine or Chinakhov/Nyquist -- Roslovic -- Laine were excellent, especially the first (remember the first season under Lars) Laine needs to be a leader of the line like in these lines. That's why Voráček and Gaudreau aren't ideal to him. So I hope Vincent won't try Laine with Gaudreau again.

P.S. it is a reason why I would like to join Voronkov with Patrik. The couple Voronkov -- Radulov was excellent.

It looks to me like the candidates for the OHL, Cleveland and possible waiver wire is a pretty long list. Eight spots are locks - Boone, Laine, KJ, Marchenko, Johnny, Tex, Kuraly, and Fantilli. I tend to think Danforth is a lock for one of 13 forward spots (though some will disagree).

That leaves Chinakov, Ros, Bemmer, Foudy, Sillinger, Robinson and Voronkov fighting for spots with Maletesta and Dumais trying everything they can do to make the roster. That’s 9 guys for 4 spots with Olivier on IR.

As an aside, D has competition too and I have no issue with Bean being traded for a pick or just waiving him.

Hadn't seen this posted yet. Basically how I see those are the Jenner, Fantilli, Silly lines are all interchangeable and on the roster. The rest are all fighting for a spot in camp.

Same with the D pairings, Boqvist up are all interchangeable fighting for what pairing they are on, everyone else is fighting for the 7th dman or a call up.

Malatesta being with Kuraly and Robinson is interesting. I would have expected Foudy. Wonder if longterm Marchenko takes Danforth's spot and Danforth down to the 4th line. Definitely giving the kid a chance to be noticed

Not yet the fact that Texier will be in the lineup along with Laine and Fantilli. When Marchenko returns and if Patrik and Adam have good chemistry, Kirill can replace Tex. Or replace Johnson in the first line and Kent would move to 11 and 29.

But it's interesting that Roslovic isn't higher. Pascal knows him well, Jack played very well under him in Manitoba. We'll see next.

EDIT: And maybe everything will be different. Where is it written that at least one of the Johnson/Laine duo won't play center and Boone won't play wing like Roslovic?

Does anyone remember what kind of roster played the first preseason game last year? Like should I expect AHLers, prospects or NHLers on sunday?

The D pairs look stupid to me. #FreeMateychuk
I don’t take these camp pairings too seriously, but I can’t imagine Peeke being in the top 4. While The Athletic’s Dom takes a lot of grief - often understand any- his recent article cites Peeke’s last three year 5 on 5 stats at 197 GA and 100 GF while on the ice. Yikes!

It was good to see his model reflecting his improved all round game, raking him as one of the Jackets’ top two defensive forwards. And sorry folks, but he also cited Kuraly’s defensive work - often drawing high praise from fans - as a myth (which tracks with my eyes not even considering the penalties he takes). Yes, he draws D Zone assignments but only a 21% GF when on ice is no stat to be proud of.

Better players will be playing at the home game instead of in Pittsburgh, I'm sure the Pens will do the same
Yeah true...

Hoping to still at least see a few out of Dumais, Jiricek, Mateychuk, Voronkov and Sillinger on sunday. Can't really watch midweek games starting at 2am these days so this sunday game will be among my preseason highlights

Peeke nor Kuraly would be in my starting 18.

Tyrer says Saturday's scrimmage after 11am will be streamed. Since they're doing that one could infer that Sunday's game at NWA will be streamed as well but we'll see. The game in Pittsburgh won't be aired by SportsNet Pittsburgh so my expectation is at best we will get another "jumbotron" feed from that game, which was the case with most preseason games last year.
