Svozil and Jiricek will join Czech's pre-WC team. I think neither needs to play additional games this season so can't say I'm excited about the news.

For Svozil raising up the level of competition is good.

Get better feel where you’re at and how far away from being a legit top4 option

His confidence is also sky high, might aswell let him continue with it. Just need to avoid him getting too high on himself and slacking in the offseason because he thinks hes good enough or something silly

I think the new coaching staff should have guys coming to camp in top shape and ready to work hard. Id make it known as the new honcho that its a clean slate for all and although there are a few fairly solidified spots that everything is open.

You can see highlights here from the last game of the Moose Jaw - Winnipeg series.

Rysavy is having a bit of a breakout. 5g and 5a in 8 playoff games now. He was everywhere in this game. Mateychuk also with a couple very nice passes.

On the flipside Dumais is doing what I was a bit scared of. His numbers have dropped significantly across the board from shots to goals to assists.

Watching Rysavy in the WJHC, he’s got 4th line wing that kills penalties written all over him. He definitely seemed to play an NHL game to me. Adding a bit of a scoring touch would be gravy.

Nice set up for Viqsi to come in here feeling vindicated...

Was she bullish on Rysavy? I can't remember.

I watched a couple Mooseheads playoffs games and barely noticed Dumais. But that's usually what happens in the regular season too, I don't notice him. So not sure what to make of that.

Yes very much so and you just pointed out Voronkov in our top 5 prospects the other day over Rysavy

I was bullish on Rysavy as well. If like to see him get a contract and see if growth continues in the AHL. Granted I don't think he's a unique player but do think he could play in the NHL and after this year having that kind of depth can only help.

To be fair, I tend to focus on the mid to late round picks when drafted. They are more intriguing to me.

I could see that. :dunno:
This is why I'd like to see him somehow make his way to Europe. This season he was an 18 year old playing against mostly 17-20 year olds. Next season he will be 19 but again playing against 17-20 year olds. How does another season of juniors playing against younger and less physically mature competition grow his game? He can sleepwalk through another regular season rolling up 2 PPG and then we hope he gets enough playoff games to beef up his level of play? I think an entire season of battling against men (even if they are less skilled) would benefit him much more.

I know it's not realistic but the deal between the CHL and NHL is not necessarily always beneficial to some of the players. Some get lost in the cracks and it seems like Dumais might be one of those kids.

on one hand, it probably doesn't.

on the other hand, watching him put up like 400 points would be really funny

Well if Dumais is invisible then maybe another year in the Q would be good.

Is this the same CKSA team that Michkov was on? Would've been good for him even if he was only getting a few minutes a night...

No, Michkov is part of the SKA St. Petersburg system, this was CSKA Moscow who knocked SKA out in the semis.

It's a bit confusing.

CSKA Moscow is the former Red Army team, which used to be the nucleus of all Soviet national teams. Central Sports Klub Army.

SKA St Petersburg, which was never the best until about a decade ago but has been the wealthiest club with the best players since then, is Sports Klub Army.

Okay definitely mixed those up. I knew he played for a jr team of a KHL team

Yeah I knew CKSA was the red army team but that was about the only thing I know. And KHL works a little different right, like they all have their own like AHL clubs too?

I don't think they all have affiliates, just the wealthier clubs. SKA actually has multiple junior affiliates.

One difference is that they have both VHL (like AHL) and MHL (junior) affiliates, like if the Jackets could make callups from the Windsor Spitfires and sent all their prospects to that same junior squad.

Has anybody seen enough of our D-pool (Mateychuk, Ceulmans, and Svozil) to give an updated projection of where their ceilings might be after another year of development? I know Mateychuk went through a rough patch but other than that I haven't had a chance to pay too much attention to the actual development beyond box scores (which I'll be honest don't give that much hope other than Svozil and I suspected that was at least in part Bedard influenced.)
