what do you mean by this? I haven’t heard anything bad about his dad?
I know discussing Rachel in our prospects thread is a little off topic but...I seem to recall this crap with his dad started before he even played Canadian Juniors. There is an unwritten rule that when a kid has family connections to a CHL team then the other CHL teams don't draft him allowing him to be drafted to a preferred team.

Kerby's dad was the GM of the Windsor Spitfires who had a late first round pick and Rachel was a projected first rounder. So all the other CHL teams in front of Windsor passed on him but when it was the Spitfires turn to draft they picked someone other than Kerby. So the next team called their bluff and drafted Kerby. The family pitched a fit. I think they had to work out a trade so the Rychel family got what they wanted.

The Rychels tried to game the system by passing on the son in the first round and expecting teams to bypass Kerby a second time into the second round giving the Spitfires essentially two first round picks. A team called their bluff and drafted him...the argument being the Spitfires had a chance to draft a first round guy and they passed on him so he was fair game.

there are 6 other defensemen on BC who have more points than our prospect. that’s worrisome.
Have you watched him? I’d wager not.

He’s a 3rd round pick, I wouldn’t worry too much. USA hockey seems to like him. From what I’ve seen, he’s matching up against the top lines. Plus, half the guys above him in scoring have been drafted and/or are 2 years older.

gross. worst +/- on his team by far (yeah, I know plus minus blah blah) and no points

At this rate he won’t get a contract. He still has 2 years after this one of college eligibility. It is what it is. Domi was nothing, and if he turns out to be nothing, it’ll go in the bin of forgotten trades. Nothing was lost

I have not.
and after seeing his stat line, I don’t care to.

have you watched him? you make it seem like you have season tickets or something to the Eagles’ home games

I'd wager its hard to have an opinion taken seriously if one hasn't taken the time to look at them...

Thus I don't have one on him...

Does anyone have a sense if Malatesta can be an NHL player? I love his feistiness, but it takes more than that to be in the NHL. Any thoughts on whether his skill translates?

The little I've seen of him in the Q I don't think there's much skill to translate. He doesn't have good hands or good passing. I think he can maybe still be a bottom six energy guy, because he hits like a bowling ball and that's fun.

Got to watch the 3rd period of the Michigan and Wisconsin game and see guys like Ceulemans and Fantilli. Man if thats how Wisconsin usually looks what a frustrating team. Ceulemans had some big shots that got blocked, couple hits, some nice breakout passes and was on the ice seemingly every other shift after Michigan took a late lead. Ceulemans d partner on the PP was making some turnovers that would make Roslovic proud.
Fantilli was noticeable but wasnt dominating in that single period of action Ive watched. Not surprisingly Hughes was the most noticeable guy on the ice.

Nice. I thought that Joona Luoto could be the next call up. Excited to tune into the Marchenk-show tomorrow
