I still think the team needs center prospects. To me Johnson is a wing until proven otherwise
I pretty much exclusively think of KJ right now as the heir apparent to Voracek's playmaking role.

Where are we ranked in prospect pool? Top10? Top20?
EliteProspects puts us at #16. Prior to this past season and draft, they had us dead last in the NHL.
EP Rinkside 2021-22 Prospect Pool Rankings: No. 16-ranked Columbus Blue Jackets - EP Rinkside (subscription probably required)

For the record, they rank our top 15 guys as (in order):
Top 5: KJ, Sillinger, Svozil, Foudy, Ceulemans
6-10: Chinakov, Marchenko, Angle, Dunne, TFW
10-15: Johanneson, Pyythia, Malatesta, Voronkov, OJBH

EDIT: Also, that came out in late September, for those of you already reaching for the "OMG SILLINGER NHL GAMES WTF" outrage dial. ;)

I still thinks it's reasonable that someone could think KJ has a higher ceiling and thus rank him higher. The outrageous part is how low they are on our Russian prospects.

Update on Kent Johnson from the Athletic….

Daily workouts, all season

Trying to add healthy weight on a slender frame.
“I have learned to like the gym more the last couple of years. It’s really cool when you see the effects on the ice, what it can do for your game. I’ve been working hard on my lower body a lot, and I think that’s even more important than the upper body. My skating is more explosive this year, just getting up and down the ice and leaning on people.
“I’m at 172 pounds now (up from 165 when he was drafted). During the season, it’s hard to add weight, but when I got back to Michigan (in the fall), they told me that all the weight I added was muscle. I’m 6 feet tall, even though it might say 6-1 in the program. I don’t think there’s any chance I’ll ever be that heavy. I’m just trying to gain one pound at a time. I’ll never be the biggest or bulkiest guy, but I think I can be really strong and wiry. Genetically, I’m going to be one of the skinnier guys. I figure 180 to 185 pounds will probably be good for me

When do practices for World Juniors begin? Wanted to see Johnson play in person when they play Ohio State on Dec 10 and 11.
