Kent Johnson with a sick pass to Beniers for the opening goal vs MSU. Happy bday to Beniers!

KJ13 playing on the PK again and looking bad. They actually had a grade A chance on the PK with him setting up Matty again.

MSU pinned the 13-10-71 line in their own zone after a long change, resulting in a goal. That’s a minus for KJ13. 2-1 Michigan leads MSU.

8:37pm KJ13 does the Austin Matthews curl and drag wrist shot, and puts it right off the post. I didn’t realize he could shoot that hard.

I find it annoying that these clips rarely show the play leading up to the goal. I'd like to know how they entered, how they got Beniers open, etc...

IIRC there was a turnover in the neutral zone near the benches on a UM back check, defenseman moved the puck to the far wall with a pass to KJ. Johnson entered the zone and slowed down before finding a streaking Beniers.

Then the powerplay, Johnson came in off the left wing and ripped a shot wide and then they got the rebound and set up that play.

Yeah I appreciate you sharing them. It just seems like this "Michigan Hockey" account is more impressed with their goal horn than the actual hockey. Cleveland has done it too.

Kent Johnson has made some really good two way plays in the game, the most recent one being on the PK with a guy trying to hold the line. He has a deceptive pole check which he uses well, this time resulting in a zone entry breakup and counter attack half-breakaway for Beniers - he missed though.

I do think KJ has been on the perimeter a lot, I’d like to see him get between the dots more. When he does that he’s gotten a few grade A chances.

And KJ13 picks up his 3rd assist..
Can’t really see it but he makes a cross crease backhand pass

3rd assist at 4:22 is really cool, in spite of the fact it was 6-2 already with less than 2 minutes left in the game.

Notice decision making behind the net. There's a wolverine player wide open at the side of net, but instead of passing to him, he seems first attempting a lacrosse scoop move à la Svechnikov. Once realising he couldn't get puck on top of his blade he goes for plan B, which is little more stickhandling followed by a cross crease pass to the eventual goal scorer. Some might say that is not the smartest decision making in the situation, but right now I don't care worrying about it too much. I'm too busy enjoying the fact there's a prospect in the system who indisputably has a creative hockey mind.

I think this is a good move for Knazko. Svozil's transition hasn't been good so far, but more generally I like the idea of our D prospects playing big minutes in a league that can develop D-men.

This is all I’ve seen:

"He got rattled pretty good there," UW coach Tony Granato said. "The extent of how long he'll be out for, I don't know. He looked pretty good when I just saw him so hopefully he can get back on the ice this week and potentially be ready for next weekend."
