Do you have a source? It doesnt make much sense due to the idea that he probably isnt NHL ready and cant play in the AHL.

I think you might be getting confused with CHL trades vs NHL trades. CHL trades happen quite a bit. Shoot, even Sonny Milano had his CHL rights traded last year while playing in Cleveland

Gatineau is one of the worst 3-4 teams in the QMJHL right now in the standings, wouldn't be too surprised to see a top team try to get him.

It would be nice if Blainville-Boisbriand traded for him.

Im not. My question is, why would Gatineau trade him if they could build around him if he still has a couple more years in the Q.

I'm not Gatineau so I won't pretend to know to know all of their dynamics. Abramov has this year and next year in the QMJHL most likely. This year looks to be lost as they are in the bottom 3-4 teams in the Q right now. Next year they can lose some big pieces of their team/scoring to the AHL/NHL as well from what I seen in my brief research of their team. Maybe they would just prefer to trade some key pieces now and start a rebuild?

That makes more sense, so we should see Vitalii in the A two years from now?

don't have the source, but in our FB chat CBJP said he saw a tweet about it that was quickly deleted...so its speculation at best, but as pointed out, they could get a big ransom for him and jumpstart their rebuild...

That's the key to junior trades if I understand it correctly. His team sucks now and will probably suck next year as well but if they can get extra draft picks and maybe a pretty good younger player for him they can get better a few years from now.

I'm thinking they'll keep him for now, they just made a 3 for 3 player trade that didnt involve him so perhaps they are gonna try some different guys around their team before the full on rebuild happens. For what its worth, their coach noted predraft that whoever picks him up outside got a first round talent while also stating he was on pace for more points than Claude Giroux at the same time of his draft year. He ended up being 10-15 points less than Giroux's year but regardless, serious good player.

Meant to watch Sweden, but forgot to. Anyone watch and assess Carlsson's play?
I watched somewhere between 50-75% of their game with Denmark. I thought he did a good job of defending the crease and staying back while Kylington jumped up into the play.

Basically, Carlsson played a very conservative, defensive game. Not really noticeable considering how much Sweden was dominating that game. He had an assist on Rasmus Dahlin's goal in the 2nd. 18:38 ice time, only 2 players with more (Kylington, Bernhardt).

edit: Video of Carlsson's primary assist on the Dahlin goal (Carlsson wearing #9) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg-q_4lIAgc

can't believe Abramov isn't playing in the WJC

I guess he burned bridges:

Abramov did not seem to make many friends in Russian when he spurned the chance to play for the Russian Under 18 Development Team and instead ply his trade in the QMJHL. This decision caused Russian U18 head coach Mikhail Prokhorov to say that players who went overseas would not be part of the national team. KHL president Dmitri Chernyshenko said that “Abramov moved to the unknown.†As such Abramov didn’t get a chance to play for Team Russia in the Subway Super Series. He also wasn’t even given a tryout for the World Junior team despite the fact he has dominated in the QMJHL. However, given the current state of the U18 team, and the melodonium scandal, it seems that Abramov is the one laughing today.
