Of course I haven't watched them, but..

Carlsson 3 points in 14 games in the SHL, right on pace with the last couple years
Gavrikov- 4 points in 25 games, +6 so far. Kind of similar to his stats last year, pretty big increase in penalty minutes
Kolesar has been hurt for much of the year, I believe I seen he just returned from injury last night..

Other prospects who have done alright this year/improved
Stenlund as previously mentioned.
Kole Sherwood- 20 points in 16 games for Flint in the OHL.
Calvin Thurkauf- 7th round pick this past year- 18 points in 17 games for Kelowna skating with former 1st round pick Nick Merkely.

Gavrikov and Carlsson are more defensive oriented so both sound great so far. happy about Gavrikov being +6 and he has always been physical but I will take the PIM increase as positive as continuing that type of play.

I heard somewhere Abrimov (spelling might be way off) is playing great. I'm not to worried about our F prospects I just the 2 I mentioned come over next year with the chances of JMFJ leaving in expansion we will need bottom pairing. I don't trust Nutivaara long term and both of these guys are the definition of shut down.

What's the scoop on Justin Scott just recalled to CBJ? I see he is 6-1 200lbs L shot RW. Scored at point per game pace in OHL last year. Where does he fit? Josh Anderson type?

It looks like Thurkauf has been kicking all kinds of ass lately. He has 8 goals in his last 4 games.

Thurkauf was a pick I quietly liked at the time -- reminded me of Nutivaara in that he'd gone undrafted once, but the club liked him enough to spend a seventh-round pick on him just to be sure they'd get him. 31 points in 28 games so far this year should put him on the map.

What country is he from. Name sounds Czech or Russian.

He is Russian born.

Here is a link to his prospect page which contains over 240 posts about his development, the most recent of which is today.

Many mock drafts showed him being picked in the late 1st round in June 2016. The Draft Preview issue of The Hockey News had him rated 29th. The CBJ chose him in the 3rd round with pick #65 overall.

Gavrikov will play for team Russia at the upcoming Eurohockey tour in Moscow. He gonna have a few decent teammates: Datsyuk, Kovalchuk, Nichushkin.

Yep, Channel One Cup is the home stage of the Eurotour games for Russia NT, which means that all the best available guys are gathered there. It will be held on 15-th to 18-th of December and will be televised, so, if anyone is interested, there should be plenty of streams available.

I've been dying to see live games of Gavrikov all year but because time zone issues and lack of streams I can find haven't seen any. If he plays well there and has a good season we HAVE to bring him over next year. Put him in Nutivaaras place.

I really don't understand your immense dislike of Nuutivaara. He's had a couple plays in which he has been burned, yes. But, everybody in the NHL has. He's been burned far less throughout the season and has been making some better decisions. The Blue Jackets are 17-5-4 with him playing in every single game. Has 1 goal, 5 assists, +5 rating. I have a feeling that Torts/staff has a preference to Nuutivaara being the 6th man as they have Prout/Harrington who aren't playing.

Plus, Carlsson and Gavrikov have to come over here first to prove that they are better than Nuutivaara. Carlsson could still be another couple years away per Portzline. As for Gavrikov, I'm in the wait and see mode. Plus, I don't see the reason to be worried about next year's #6 d-man with how this season is going. Live in the moment, worry about next October come this summer.

^I've just seen him make to many stupid plays compared to other players this year a few directly causing a goal moments later. I have faith He will be a solid (at worst) bottom pair guy with potential to be a mid pair guy. It is also that I feel that even though he has played decently as of late I feel Kukan would be playing at least as well. I also have been a huge fan of Gavrikov sense before we even drafted him. So I am just excited to see him come over sooner then later. With a chance of losing JMFJ in either the draft or free agency the following year a bottom pairing of Gavrikov/Carlsson to me just seems like a perfect fit for our team in the next year or 2. With 6 spots and Jones, Savard, Werenski, and Murray locked in some prospects are going to be left without a spot and I'm just hoping for certain people to be there.

Some updates on Calvin Thurkauf, CBJ 7th rounder last year:

Today, he was named captain of Switzerland for the WJC, and he was named WHL player of the week on Dec 11.

He has been playing center this year on the Kelowna Rockets.

EDIT: Here's another article that is a pretty good read.

The Bluejackets also have to be smiling, calling Thurkauf’s name late in the seventh round of the 2016 NHL entry draft.

If Thurkauf signs with Columbus—which Frey believes is a given—then he will likely play next season in the NHL or with the ‘Jackets AHL affiliate. Failing that, he could turn pro with his hometown team of Zug, Switzerland in the Swiss Elite league.

Either way, this will almost certainly be his last season with the Rockets.

“He’s definitely on (Columbus’s) radar for the near future, picking him is making them look pretty smart,” said Kris Mallette. “He was a late seventh-rounder who is playing more like a second or third rounder, and honestly, he’s pretty close to being pro ready now.”

Nutivaara and now Thurkauf as 7th rounders. Good stuff. If Jarmo and Co. could only draft in the top 3 :sarcasm:
