Not sure about who will be called up first, but I have faith Zaar can be a good 3rd liner. He has a good defensive game and can provide secondary scoring with that lethal shot of his. He's seemingly done well in his first season in NA.

17g + 15a in 53 games for Zaar. Think he makes the CBJ roster before Bjork or Milano?

His shooting percentage isn't absurdly high either. Only 10.7% this season.

Maybe, but I doubt he stays in the NHL over either of them. It isn't about who makes it to the NHL first, but who is better. When you make it has more to do with how you ready you are.

Does anyone know the "thn future watch" scouts poll rankings of our prospects?

Werenski is 6th, between Rantanen and Samsonov. Essentially 8th out of his draft class, exactly where he was picked. Seems right to me. The rest is not public.

Noticed CBJP said Ryan Collins is playing tonight for the first time in a while. Was this due to injury or bad play? I can't find any message saying injury, so if it is in fact due to bad play is it safe to say we whiffed? There was alot of controversy this summer when he barely made the top 20 prospects, but it looks like the skeptics (like me) are dead on right now

Scrolling through Twitter- Somebody confirmed to CBJProspects that it was due to being in the coach's dog house (presumably bad play).. He hasn't had too good of a year between bad play at Lake Placid WJC evaluation, being left off WJC, and being scratched at Minnesota. Personally, I think boom/bust Sonny Milano is our only hope of an NHL'er out of that draft class.

Too early, but early signs point to this, yes.

Sonny has been doing well recently for the Monsters

Are you forgetting about Elvis or do you think he's got no chance of appearing in the NHL?

Vladislav Gavrikov was invited to the Russia NT training camp initial roster for the World Championships, but had to withdraw because of an injury.

It's too early to make a final judgment on players from the 2014 draft. Leblanc has an outside shot at being a Spurgeon-style late bloomer. Merzlikins is developing well.

I have a mostly negative view of that draft at this point, mostly because of Milano and Collins. Collins obviously fell off a cliff, but Milano is also at least moderately disappointing. Of the ten players drafted after him, most would now be taken ahead of him.

Both are still top-5 prospects for the organization in terms of potential.

I can see why Collins is a wait and behold type of prospect, better left for the more patient people to draft but the moans arising around Sunny Milano are bit puzzling given how early it is in the process. Kasperi Kapanen for example scored the winning goal in the WJC and has debuted in the NHL. He is even 0.1 ppg ahead of Milano in the AHL.

Yet what I saw in that Helsinki night was the better prospect, the more efficient model. The winger superior.

Collins?? Top 5 CBJ prospect???

Even if you're basing that off potential the potential of Milano, Rychel, Bjorkstrand, Werenski, Korpisalo, Bittner, Carlsson, etc. far exceed that of Ryan Collins..

Collins isn't even top 25, much less top 5.

Milano, in terms of potential, is still very valuable.

I don't understand why everyone is pissing on Milano. He's 19/20 playing in a mens league with a very junior like playing style. He's a boom/bust pick, but he's showing signs of getting things going recently.

Meanwhile with Collins..Never been a fan of the pick (I was criticized in the draft GDT for this) and don't expect him to get a contract at this point.

.

It's certainly not pissing on Milano to prefer Drouin, or to prefer a half dozen guys drafted immediately after him, some of which are 19/20 years old, playing in the AHL, and doing a better job of it.

My worry with him is that he hasn't changed his playing style, doesn't play with much structure, and might not be the coachable type.

I think he'll get a contract just to see if he'll pick it up eventually but yeah, he really wasn't such a great pick.

I did forget about Elvis to be honest.. But, I don't view him that highly. I still don't know if I see him being a backup NHL goalie. I'll withhold most of my judgement until he comes to Lake Erie.

Obviously there is still some time with the 2014 draft class (Collins, Siebenaler since he was signed, Merzlikins).. Milano has been performing better of late, see how he does next year in Lake Erie.

Merzilkin posted .942 SV% an 2.08 GAA in the 1st playoffs round as his 5th seed Lugano advanced to the 2nd round. He won't meet Auston Matthews though, his 1st place Zurich got swept by the 8th seed Bern. No play-offs goals for the 1st overall.

This kid is tough. He was substituted after that, but 5 minutes later came back to the net and saved all 39 shots he's faced, his back-up also made 5 saves. Lugano got outshot 18:44, but won 5:0.
Here 2nd half of the game if someone cares:

Veeti Vainio's Blues went bankrupt and cannot partake in the Finnish SM-liiga next season unless someone takes care of the debt.

The play-off pair Nutivaara-Nummelin is currently tied 1-1 in victories.
