What's happened to Dansk? His stats for the year look pretty bad - 10w 18l on a save percentage of .904. Seems like he's not going to be able to pull it together.

He's actually been playing pretty well. He started out the season leading the SHL but he's playing for a very bad team so he's not going to win a lot of games since they rarely score more than a goal a game. As the season's worn on, he's starting to tire.

He's pretty bad

Based on???

Rögle fans are okay with his performance and think he'll be back in North American next season. I have only watched one of his games online this season but he didn't do anything particularly bad. He just wasn't able to stand on his head and steal the game.

Most of his loses are 3-2 or 2-1. It's not like he can skate up ice and score himself.

He's spent most of the season in the top 10 in the SHL in save percentage until a rough patch against some very good teams that utterly destroyed Rögle and he's been doing better so far in February. He's considerably better than the goalie who had signed to be the #1 goalie in Rögle.

He was only truly awful in the 13-14 playoffs and the 14-15 season. Otherwise he's looked like a solid goalie prospect.

I don't think Dansk was solid. Every time we saw him he was shaky. His stock would have fallen sooner if he didn't have a bad Erie defence to blame.

Dansk is has issues with consistency and can go from having very good games to imploding. Has he turned things around in Sweden? I'm not sure, but he's making progress.

He's never been the type of goalie who can steal games and carry a bad team on his back on a consistent basis. He had a handful of games like that for Erie during his first year, but they was few and far between. His first few games for Rögle were excellent, but not amazing, close losses.

Can a goalie make it to the NHL being sort of adequate? Maybe McBackup is proof that you can, but I don't think it's with Columbus.

Technique-wise, Dansk has a high level of knowledge of skill. Remember when he stayed in the main camp longer than the other goalies last season to help Bob learn the Reverse-VH post-integration tactic.

Dansk has worked with all sorts of goalie coaches to learn all the advanced techniques and can't actually implement these techniques in actual games in a way that's successful. Maybe eventually he might put everything together. Or he might retire and become a goalie coach.

Was it Dansk's decision to go pro after his last AHL season? At the time I thought it was unwise and thought he should have stuck around for one final CHL year. Yes he had outstanding regular season numbers but he bombed and was replaced in the post-season and he was the benefit of an incredibly talented team. I wondered whether his gaudy numbers were just another Corbeil season...right goalie in the right place at the right time.

I only ask because I wonder how different Dansk's track would be right now had he stayed one more year in Erie or somewhere else i the CHL. Instead of perhaps playing 50+ games building his technique and experience at the CHL while hopefully winning, he ended up busting in Springfield and down to the ECHL and possibly shattering his confidence.

If Dansk stayed in the CHL last season, he would have taken both an overager and import spot. Teams typically won't do that. Odds are he wouldn't have been able to stay with Erie. He would have had to sign with another team in the CHL, possibly outside of the OHL. There aren't many teams who have a free import spot and lack overagers. Usually it's a painful decision for teams which overagers they have to let go.

Markus Søberg was in that rare situation this year with Windsor, but it seemed like the team wanted to see how he had recovered from his injuries before giving him the boot. But then he had to have surgery at the beginning of the season and they can't dismiss injured players.

In the beginning of January, Windsor sent Søberg and another overager packing so they could trade for other overagers to help their playoff run.

I know he was taken in the 5th round and he is a project but I honestly thought Tyler Bird would be doing a lot better in the NCAA. He has good size and he is a right winger, I thought he would for sure help our RW depth... His stat line in 51 career NCAA games: 8 points, -15... Unreal. He's playing for Brown University.

I don't think I've ever saw his name mentioned on these boards besides his draft thread.

Anyone have any thoughts on him?

For some reason, I thought the same. I stopped paying close attention to him after last season.

This makes me think back to a few years ago, when the Jackets had a prospect named Matt Greer, a similarly-sized winger. He was drafted in the 8th round in 2004 after what statistically seems like a decent year in the USHL. He put up single-digit points in each of 4 full seasons at Minnesota-Duluth. He got one game with Syracuse, and he was done.

Yeah I thought Soberg and Bird could be steals...Neither will earn contracts.

Søberg's success has been limited by injuries. He played all last season with a hernia that needed surgical repair. I think he also had a shoulder injury.

He could turn things around, but he's not going to earn a contract now. The next logical step would be sign with a SHL team and get a couple solid season under his belt before trying to get an NHL team to invite him to camp.

Or, he could agree to a ECHL deal next season and try playing his way up in North American.

He still tweets about his old Swedish team Frölunda so my guess is he ends up back there if they offer to sign him.

If tonight's game was representative don't look to see Milano or Bjorkstrand anytime soon. Both seemed to lose most battles. Bjorkstrand looked a bit better than Milano in my opinion. Disappointed in both.

Thanks EspenK, can't help wondering if Milano would have benefitted from going the NCAA route where they focus more on strength and conditioning.

I was wondering what people think about Kolesar, he seems to be our statistically most productive forward prospect at the moment. The scouting reports make him sound like a cross between Josh Anderson and Boone Jenner with a bit more willingness to drop the gloves. Big, thick, fearless and good skater. Sounds like a CBJer.

He also plays the right side where I think we are weakest.

The hatty he had two nights ago gives him 30 Gs and 59 Pts in 55 games this year and at just eighteen years old I think he can play one more year in the CHL if needed. Anyone want to guess what his ceiling might be? Second line or third line?

I have no idea but sooner or later (hopefully sooner) maybe Sore Loser will give us his opinion since he is out west and maybe still has a bit of time to look at prospects in the WHL.

Go take a peek at the prospects forum, he was just bumped and there are some pretty glowing comments so far. I havent seen him a ton this year but I liked the guy from what I knew and the fact his offense is coming so fast is a very welcome surprise
Honestly from what I have seen he plays as big as Matt Calvert thinks he is

Land run in the West is all I have heard of unless EspenK wants to expand on his post.

Guess which prospect is Espoo Blues number one defender, leading the team in ice time with 25.52 tonight against Saimaan Pallo.

Blues have five guys who are over 24 in the roster signed after many have left under the financial turmoil. If you want to invest in the Espoo hockey market they are launching crowdfunding campaign tomorrow... tomorrow you could own a team in the SM-liiga...
