Really, it's impossible to compare upsides; but these are stylistic comparisons. Some guys may turn out better, most will turn out not as good. Some make guys like me look like a genius and end up right on par :laugh:

Not bad, as a follower of another team. I like the Savard to Wideman comparison and think it really fits. JAM reminds me a lot of Danny Briere. The whole French-Canadian, high scoring junior from the Q with a bit of a mean streak and subtle dirty to his game. Briere is/was quite a bit more skilled, but it works for me.

I feel like Booner Jenner has a higher upside than Malhotra, and I know you said it wasn't based on upside but rather stylistic play.

Not really sure about Johansen to Thornton or Getzlaf. I tend to see more Eric Staal to his game. Typically not a guy who is throwing his weight around, but is learning to use it to protect the puck.

Audy-Marchessault to Briere is fair, but I don't think he will ever get anywhere near that level. It's possible.

People seem to forget that Manny Malhotra was once the sixth pick overall. In fact, I have a historical guide to the Memorial Cup that was held here in Spokane in 1998; it mentions the Guelph Storm, with Manny Malhotra "steamrolling" their way into the tournament. I think placing such lofty expectations on a guy that hadn't even scored at a point-per-game pace in the OHL was probably a bit unfair by the Rangers, but I actually like the type of player he's turned into, in spite of what he's gone through. It's very possible that Boone Jenner has more offensive upside, but his two-way game is similar in many aspects. I think the hope around here is that he'll become a second/third line center that plays against the other teams' top lines on a shift by shift basis, and chips in depth scoring when need be. That's exactly what Manny Malhotra provided when he was here. If Boone can give us more offense, then that's excellent.

Johansen really reminds me a lot of Joe Thornton with the puck. Eric Staal is more of a shooter; I don't see Ryan ever being that good of a shooter. Thornton doesn't throw the big hits that often anymore; he's turned into more of a setup guy/powerplay specialist ... that's the Joe Thornton I see when watching Ryan Johansen. The Getzlaf comparison is as much about size/skating style than anything.

I don't see it. Jenner doesn't have the same level of talent as Roenick. 19 year olds can dominate in juniors because they are bigger, stronger, and having played at higher levels, are faster and more skilled than most 17 and 18 year olds. I think that's what's going on with Boone Jenner right now.

I would love to be proven wrong and have him turn into a top line player, but honestly I just don't see it.

No they said they wont make call ups untill after the next few days/games, not that they didnt plan to make any callups, if they didnt plan to make call ups then there wouldn't have been a mention of playing the waiting game with Atkinsons health

Unless they are going to call JAM up to play on lines 1-3, then they should just keep him down in Springfield. No sense in calling him up to sit and watch in the press box.

Curtis McElhinney saved 15 of 16 shots the best Goalie preformance of the game
Erixon didnt have any G or A but had a +/- of 0

So whats the Deal with this kid? how good can he be? all the pre-draft scouting reports on him where hating on him saying he didnt have the best offensive skill set or wasn't a good skater yet every year but 1 he's averaged at least 1 point per game and this year he's averaing almost a goal per game and well over 1 point per game. but that brings me to my next question is why isn't he in a higher up league? i've read he's a 19 year old playing vs 17 and 18 year olds, why?

2 reasons:

1) We don't want to rush the kid and ruin his development in a "throw away year."
2) We don't want to burn a year of his ELC in a "throw away year."

I don't believe his is eligible to play in the AHL so there you go I guess.

I have no idea how "good" he can be. People seem to like him though.

This, a thousand times this. It is right now that greatest problem with nhl development . There is no place for 19 year olds who aren't ready to move into the nhl, but are already at the top of the chl.

Jenner's offensive explosion was a surprise this year, but guys like Johansen could have really used this to their advantage. I'm still somewhat shocked that the new CBA didn't at least have some exceptions or modifications regarding this.

With the recent issues involving NCAA players leaving their team (and school) mid-season to go to the CHL, I would expect there to be a meeting of the minds in order to really hash out this issue for good.

The CHL arrangement is written largely to benefit the CHL, and I honestly don't see a problem with it. Their teams have to compete and make money, and their eligible players hanging in limbo (as is the case when they're on an NHL roster) damages their ability to do both.

In four of Ouellette’s seven losses this season, the Black Bears scored one goal or fewer. So look past the former New England prep star’s 5-7-4 record and instead concentrate on his past two wins – back-to-back victories over powerhouse Boston College – and overall goals-against average of 2.08, which is best in the conference. Drafted 184th overall by Columbus in 2010.

I can only imagine next years training camp. The goalie battle will be insane. Dansk. Korpisalo. Forsberg. Quellette. McElhinney? Mason?
Jenner, Reilly, Chaput, Kubalik, JAM, Tynan, Murray, Mackinnon? Barkov? Shinkaruk? Monahan? Erne?
