Hughes didn't trade X for s mid-late 1st last year, he wont trade him for a 5-10 pick this year.

Value wise he's behind Guhle and Hutson but ahead of the rest. Hoping Mailman will surpass him too.

My dream is for X to become our Chara. He has the rarely used canon and the disposition to get there.

Hopefully Mailman develops into an offensive dynamo but i think in the long term it will be Guhle-Mailman...but nothing wrong with X-Mailman. Again, long term...3 years from now.
…did you just say they won’t trade wifi for pick #5?? And he has less value than Guhle. What’s Guhle’s value? A first overall pick??

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂sorry it’s late, time for me to log off.

Enormously polarizing player, overvalued by habsfans and undervalued by habs haters. I know many of you pride yourself on being GM's but if it's been reported by multiple sources that Hughes turned down 1st round picks for him, it's probably his value then. Sorry.
That being said, he'd probably go late in the 1st of a redraft and so why would the habs trade a kid with an interesting skillset in a league that still values toughness, intimidation, size and skill?
There's 0 trade where they get value for him and he brings something to the habs no one else does. There's a reason Hughes has turned down deals.
I also don''t think gorton wants to relive any kind of Tom Wilson-type drama which led to his firing in NY.
They want to keep him and develop him beyond being a nuclear deterrent.
Habs trade him and then they immediately return to try and find this type of player and the fanbase cries that CH is too small and soft.

There are other Dmen available for trade on the habs.

They certainly aren't f***ing trading him for a 3rd rounder.
Habs have 7 top 50 picks (as of today) this summer

Habs have 4 picks now in top 40. Probably looking to move some, not add more

Exact type of guy that would somehow get like a 2nd from a team like Boston or Buffalo or LA that panics that they're "too soft" and need a physical presence. The thing is that MTL themselves are like the epitome of this team so they'll never move him

David Pagnotta isn't that reliable of a source as he's usually wrong. Given how Hughes seems to leak things to various reporters that never materialize I think He just uses guys like him to stir the pot and boost interest.

totally fine if you think he's trustworthy though.

WTF?
I doubt Montreal would trade Wifi for 13th overall.
Are you guys actually serious?

Wtf is going on in here?

If someone stupidly offers ANY 1st round pick, let alone number 13......you take it and run.
I trade him for a top 15 pick, after that it depends of the draft. In the 25+ range is what we would most likely be looking at. At that range you'd hope to get a similar talent.

That was last year. This year he's worth more now and if he develops into a Chara, he's a worth a kings ransom.

I find it entertaining that people who don't know squat about hockey try to troll.

Arber Xhekaj is in his age 24 season and is a 15 minute a night dman on a dogshit team

Zdeno Chara in his age 24 season was an elite defensemen who recieved norris votes.

this is pure delusion.

He's not, there's gotta be some LSD in the air in Montreal tonight.
MTL winning 2 games is all it took for the delusion to come back out.

Back to savard worth a 1st
Back to xhekaj worth the moon
Back to Matheson worth a 1st++

Back to seeing claims that MTL is going to be "in the mix" for a playoff spot this season.

it isn't just pagnotta, Friedman last season too.
Hughes doesn't want to trade him.
If he plays and develops within his means - like last night, he's extremely valuable.

I mean most teams are in the mix for most of the year. With the loser point there's such a small difference.

Xhekaj probably would be worth a solid amount. Matheson too for a team that needs offense. Savard will likely get a couple decent draft picks, but probably not a 1st unless someone is very desperate.

You get these posts overvaluing and then these posts undervaluing.

When in reality... who knows. GMs do some really stupid things sometimes.

Hell, Montreal let Kovacevic go for a 4th and he's having a monster season for Jersey.
