Hughes didn't trade X for s mid-late 1st last year, he wont trade him for a 5-10 pick this year.

Value wise he's behind Guhle and Hutson but ahead of the rest. Hoping Mailman will surpass him too.

My dream is for X to become our Chara. He has the rarely used canon and the disposition to get there.

Hopefully Mailman develops into an offensive dynamo but i think in the long term it will be Guhle-Mailman...but nothing wrong with X-Mailman. Again, long term...3 years from now.
…did you just say they won’t trade wifi for pick #5?? And he has less value than Guhle. What’s Guhle’s value? A first overall pick??

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂sorry it’s late, time for me to log off.

Enormously polarizing player, overvalued by habsfans and undervalued by habs haters. I know many of you pride yourself on being GM's but if it's been reported by multiple sources that Hughes turned down 1st round picks for him, it's probably his value then. Sorry.
That being said, he'd probably go late in the 1st of a redraft and so why would the habs trade a kid with an interesting skillset in a league that still values toughness, intimidation, size and skill?
There's 0 trade where they get value for him and he brings something to the habs no one else does. There's a reason Hughes has turned down deals.
I also don''t think gorton wants to relive any kind of Tom Wilson-type drama which led to his firing in NY.
They want to keep him and develop him beyond being a nuclear deterrent.
Habs trade him and then they immediately return to try and find this type of player and the fanbase cries that CH is too small and soft.

There are other Dmen available for trade on the habs.

They certainly aren't f***ing trading him for a 3rd rounder.
Habs have 7 top 50 picks (as of today) this summer

Habs have 4 picks now in top 40. Probably looking to move some, not add more

Exact type of guy that would somehow get like a 2nd from a team like Boston or Buffalo or LA that panics that they're "too soft" and need a physical presence. The thing is that MTL themselves are like the epitome of this team so they'll never move him
