Yakupov with 9 WJC games.. no goals. Just saying.

He tends to be little puckhog at times. That face first block shot was awesome though.

I've never seen a dumber "can't miss" prospect. He looks like he has no clue what he's doing out there.

Jenner playing well. He'll be a great Penalty Killer for the Jackets.

Jenner looks like hes ready to play in the NHL atleast defensively. If that kid gets any kind of boost offensively, hes a top 6 but most likely the perfect third line center on a good team which Im fine with :handclap:

Agreed with both above. Jenner looked like a man against boys out there against Russia today, even though he didn't get on the scoresheet.

As I was watching, I also was thinking that I was glad we didn't end up with Yakupov. I don't see him being a game-changer in the NHL long-term.

Real kick in the pants about Ryan Murray's shoulder injury. It would have been great to see how he looked out there in comparison to Reilly, Reinhart, Hamilton.

I got to hand it to Howson, its really early, but Yakupov didnt look very good and not picking him might have been the right move. Its a shame Murray got injured because Murray would be Canada's best dman by a long shot imo.

Jenner was a force in this game and is just too strong. As for Yakupov, it's easy to say i'm glad we didn't end up with him after a game like this but i think when he gets better coaching he'll turn into the player he's supposed to be. That being said i've been pro Murray from the start but some of the comments i've read after today about Yakupov's stock dropping and he won't be able to play in the NHL are kind of unwarranted, he just has to learn to use his teammates.

Also for the other prospect today Joonas Korpisalo was in net for Finland today. Didn't watch the entire game but from what i saw it was definitely not his best effort, seems like he had a hard time tracking the puck. The entire Finnish team has disappeared this tournament but Korpisalo did not play nearly as well as he wanted to or could have

I've never seen a dumber "can't miss" prospect. He looks like he has no clue what he's doing out there.

He has incredible skill, but the knock on him was always whether or not he had the capacity to handle it. Very similar to Taylor Hall, and I think it's no mistake that a super intelligent, possibly less skilled guy, like Jordan Eberle, has become as important a player to the Oilers as has Hall. I think Nail Yakupov is a very similar player to Taylor Hall, however I think Ryan Murray, Morgan Rielly and Alex Galchenyuk will be the standout players from this draft.

Real kick in the pants about Ryan Murray's shoulder injury. It would have been great to see how he looked out there in comparison to Reilly, Reinhart, Hamilton.

He would have been ahead of them all on the depth chart, and would have had a real reason to be butthurt about last year's tournament loss. Most likely matching up shift for shift against Nail Yakupov, as he did last year - and I think you saw the true matchup in the third period of that game, but unfortunately the game was already out of reach. I don't think Nail's line would have produced as much as they did against him last year.

Amount of dumb plays Seth Jones made during the games against Russia and Canada was pretty high as well. 2 goals and 3 odd-men rushes were solely on him.

Jenner was very impressive today. Jackets got themselves a player there.

I'm glad more and more people are opening there eyes to jenner, but there are still A LOT of people who wont give him credit, oh well, they shall see. Hes a steal for being a 2nd rd pick.

For most of his draft year he was touted as a first rounder. Can't remember why he slipped but it looks like we did get a steal. I just don't want him rushed.

The knocks against him were skating ability and off. upside iirc. The hockeywriters touted him as a possible top15 pick.

edit. CBJBrassard made it first.

Wow he was all over the board. Its funny now hes proving all the doubters wrong. His skating is MUCH improved since then, and well, his offensive game is speaking for itself this year. Also nothing to do with prospects but Mason looks skinnier, he spent his time practicing with the Leafs in Toronto with Kessel and JVR, wonder if thats good or bad...:laugh:

I had a Toronto fan on NHL 13 tell me that I "would never see" Boone in Columbus, because "the Leafs are going to get him in the first round this year."

So there you have it, people... sorry to break it to you like this.

Boone has easily become my favorite prospect only behind Murray. He has got me so excited to see what he can really do.

I did not think Jenner looked out of place last year in the pre-season games that he played in. I agreed with sending him back to his junior team, but he did not look out of place vs. the line-ups that he played against while here.

Anton Forsberg is having a superb year in the SEL2, do you think that CBJ will try to bring him over already next season?

We hope that is a decision that won't have to be made due to the stellar play of our goalies this season.

If he goes anywhere next year it might be the AHL. Just my guess.

my first guess is Forsberg and York will battle it out in Springy next year...then after thinking about it, wouldn't be shocked if he stays in SEL for another year then comes over...

Forsberg's contract is up with MODO this season. My guess is that he'll get offers to stay in Sweden, but the Jackets should try to bring him over. Forsberg worked with the Jackets' goalie coach, Ian Clark, when he was coming up through MODO's junior system, so they have a relationship and it would be easier for Clark to work with him in Springfield than in Sweden.

A season in the Eliteserien as the starting goalie wouldn't be a bad idea for any goalie's development. But, I think the Jackets need to push to get him over here and adjusting to NA hockey. He'll only be 20 when the season starts.
