Who needs a rebuild when waiving the perpetually pressboxed dman will lead the team to glory? We've already beaten Utah since the waiver. Clearly Fabbro was pressbox poison.So the rebuild begins in Nashville.

Source? I tried to figure it based off of the CBA rules and it looked like three times that many teams to me.

Waivers is Standings in Reverse Order. On the 9th the order would have been something around 1 SJS, 2 MTL, 3 ANA, 4 CHI, then it would skip NAS, and then 5 PHI and finally in 6th its Columbus.

See, the thing is, I actually checked the CBA and it's not precisely the same as the standings. Standings are normally points total, with percentage being the first tiebreaker. For waiver claims, however, per the CBA, you start with points percentage. See post #41 in this thread from when I was researching earlier. The relevant bit:
(ii) is for exceptions in which one is outside of the regular season (we're not), or before November 1st (we weren't).
Really it depends on how one reads the CBA - it says it's based on points percentage "at the time of the request for Waivers", which I'm interpreting as "therefore, since the request was midday on the 9th, don't include games played the evening of the 9th, or after that". And on the 9th, before playing that evening the Jackets were still a .500 team. So many other teams were in consideration.
Unless you've got a League source that clarifies the CBA further, then, I feel pretty confident in saying it was more than 5 teams.

Pretty sure you have it spot on.
Points percentage as of the time the player was put on waivers (the 9th, in this case). It was Nashville requesting waivers. The other teams, such as CBJ put in a claim.

It is points percentage. The waiver order is designed to give the ‘worst’ team first crack, a team with 6 points from 14 games would have a higher priority than a team with only 5 points in 10 games, despite the higher raw point total.

Non-contenders might have wanted to take a chance at waivers, while contenders not only don't have space, but maybe Nashville wanted a good pick for retention/wasn't willing. Like I'm willing to bet the Oilers inquired but didn't want to spend a good asset for possible retention.

Waddell apparently explicitly didn't offer a pick because he figured he could get an eventual waiver claim in.

Actually no. Had the Flyers claimed him he'd be getting coached by Brad Shaw; one of the better teachers of the defensive side of the game.
The improvement shown by players like Ristolainen, Seeler, (and before he was traded) Sean Walker is not a coincidence.
After thought draft picks like Emil Andrae, Zamula, and Grans are far exceeding expectations.
Don't see much reason for claiming Fabbro.

I've always pumped Fabbro's tires around here and figured he'd be showing well in his new location. I have to say, even I didn't quite expect him to do THIS well this soon.

Whoever gets a chance at Tomasino or Parssinen on waivers, you better go for them. They are the next Tolvanen and Fabbro and they are probably coming soon to a waiver wire near you. It'll be the same story all over again. Because they are good young NHL players too.
