I do my part to shit on Brown at least once per game... I'm trying to keep up the hate on Brown... but I'm only 1 dude.

 To be fair I'm not trying to advocate for more posts dumping on Connor Brown though he deserves them. People are allowed to root for our players and the board is generally a better place when it's more positive.

But I do have a crusade to fight about the extreme amount of unwarranted hate our top 5 player in the world continuously receives for no good reason.

Kane is going to easily get 30 goals and some oiler "fans" are still going to hate on him and defend brown.
How can we get stats on player production per linemate. It seems like Kane -McD connection is real and clicks when they accidently are out at the same time.
Hyman has been hogging the McWing time but Kane works as well.

Not gonna critique the W but would be nice to spread out some of this scoring. Oilers pile in 8 tonight and yet have been having a ton of trouble scoring in 2024. Looks like some guys heard about it as well because I'm noticing some players digging down deeper in this one around the net.

Nuge for instance infinitely talented and with a good shot, but that was his first stellar goal in a longtime. Kane heating up again. WE got some streaky scoring.

Wings just didn't look like a good club tonight, but credit to the Oilers for making them run around. They didn't even have to defend a penalty tonight. Wings gave up 8EV goals and got lucky not giving up 4 more. Don't think much of their coach.
I'd say that 8 EV goals was impressive and needed with very poor defending and allowing Detroit to assert themselves through hard work and effort.

Draisaitl too scored a big early goal. Definitely great to see him power into the middle slot to create his own finishing kill shot. Team's best shooter needs to get more shots and be a bit selfish to create for himself.

On the year, EV goal scoring: McDavid 26; Hyman 23; Draisaitl 14; Nugent Hopkins 11; Kane 17.

Bottom six needs to get going. Holloway scored but with Draisaitl. Foegele's game is slipping back to ghost passenger.

He's looked lackadaisical this year, but will probably still score 100 points. RNH is also queitly having another solid year. He won't score as much as last year, but still on pace for his second best season so far. So last year was not a fluke.

Nuge has had a bit of a weird year. Statistically he’s having about as good of a year as you should hope. He’s basically a PPG player. But he just doesn’t look very effective out there. Hes collecting a lot of points playing with good players but I think we probably still have to give him credit for being a good complimentary player. I just wish we saw more game breaking ability from him. Hes obviously a talented player who thinks the game well but he just can’t make space for himself.

He had a lot of success on the PP last year. This year PP has struggled, so one of the reasons he has not looked as good. But we should be happy with him, especially at his price.

Honestly feels like this team is capable of playing loosey goosey offensive hockey or tight defensive hockey with limited offense the last little while. But they aren’t really capable of playing both in the same game. I guess its an improvement from previous years where we rarely saw any measured defensive game.

I think a good portion of their problems would be fixed if they just worked hard and skated hard. But it’s not consistent. See lots of entitled play.
Didn't McDavid say the Oilers got outworked for 40 minutes?

How did you determine McD having 26EV goals? He has 15. Same as Drai as of tonight.
McDavid has 16 not 26 keyboard error. All other numbers are right.

McDavids is wrong. He only has 21 goals total.
Yup. Keyboard error. Other numbers are right. Interesting to look at EV goal scoring production.

I didn't count his shorty. But fair that. It's interesting to look at the distribution of EV goal scoring. Especially so as EV production has been a past criticism of this team. Kane gets criticized a lot. Yet he is basically a pure EV producer with limited PP time. The key is going to be building out bottom six production which is very streaky to non existent.

EDIT: On the year, EV goal scoring: McDavid 16 (+2 SH); Hyman 23; Draisaitl 14; Nugent Hopkins 11; Kane 17.
