The worst part of Canadian Jail?

The Dementors.

I’d venture a guess that Carter Hart if he goes to prison, never goes to a general population wing.

In America if you’re somebody famous like that you’re being put in a protective custody wing. That’s not say something can’t happen there. The cop from Minnesota for example just got stabbed up in one of those by a guy who was a former gang member turned government informant who was looking at release date relatively soon before that. So I can happen but generally in those wings are people who have reasons to be on good behavior &/or it’s just not in their nature to be violent.

I’d have to imagine Canadian prisons try to control their jail population as much as they possibly can so I’d imagine they adopt similar policies.

Regarding the Flames. Is it possible they didn’t know the hammer was about to come down and the “mental health” was Dube? If it was he’s a coward. If it was the Flames then wtf?

They are actual people on this board who think these 5 men shouldn’t have their lives ruined because of what they did in their youth. Disgusting. If I am the brother or father of that woman I am thinking nothing but violence on the perps.
Honestly, I hope they’ve made changes in their behavior and conduct since the incident. Everyone can start moving in the right direction at any point and I’d rather them not have the proclivity to rape in the future. Their careers are most assuredly done. Their reputations are ruined. They may do jail time. I hope they are made an example of to set a new standard for what behavior is not acceptable in hockey.

That was my thought when the other dominoes started to fall. He took his leave before everyone even knew charges were imminent. I think he got word first and told the team he needed time off without saying what for.

Yeah, and weren’t the Flames the first team to delete a player from their website? It would make sense they were pissed if they felt their goodwill taken advantage of to make them look foolish or insensitive or odd

We’re talking about the same guys pleading not guilty, right?

The burden of proof might indeed fall short of conviction, and I’m not pretending I expected differently, but talking about remorse from this band of shitheads seems a wee bit premature.

Isn't Cal Foote Adam Foote's son? First Patrick Roy's son, now Foote's son. These sons of former Avalanche players seem to be scumbags.
Briere played for the Avalanche, and we all remember what his son got up to.

Briere's boy isn't a treat either. It's possible knowing they're rich from birth warps their minds.
Yeah this.

I’m not saying I think they’ve made changes but I hope. Being scared straight is preferable to carrying on doing what they’re doing IMO. Then again, most people don’t need to be scared straight to not do something like this. I’m sure stories will emerge about these players and a couple posters hinted at Hart’s reputation in his hometown being not too good. It would be nice for one of the players to take accountability and plead Guilty, I agree. My stance is I hope they have/will change(d) their behavior as that shit is unacceptable

That isn't true, he was definitely brought up, to the point where people thought he was actually traded, on the same day Provorov was. LA was in on him, which is probably why that was. There were a lot of people who thought he would be traded until somewhere along the way, suddenly, he wasn't, and at that point, yes this was why.
I wonder what would’ve happened if we did trade him and this disgusting news came out. Would we have to give a pick back or something? Def a weird case if we traded hart and then he was charged

Did they all get hit with the same charge?

I guess it would depend on what was known and when they knew it. Like I said, people thought it would happen, and I’d venture to guess the league gave guidance on it.
