I will say, as much as I've known for years that pro athletes are entirely capable of being scumbag humans, this one still stings, allegedly of course.

All the word you heard about Hart was how mature he was for his age, level-headed, etc. He always lived up to that in interviews IMO. But if this is what it seems like it obviously is? Any sliver of optimism that I had about hockey players maybe being at least 1% better than other sports has disappeared faster than TORTS at post-game.

Some people here should watch the ESPN 30 for 30 on the Duke men’s lacrosse team . . . before rushing to judgment in this matter.
You should read the article in the Athletic I referenced, this is a very different situation.

Whether or not they're found guilty (not a slam dunk given the years that have passed and the problem of an intoxicated victim - which is both evidence of a crime, lack of consent, but a tough row to hoe for a prosecutor), it's obvious they crossed a line that will make it hard for the league to avoid a serious punishment.

I guess we’ll never know the return would net in a trade. Sounds like he was untouchable and the Flyers tried to offload him

My favorite part of this thread is people telling other people not to rush to judgement because other things have happened in history which funny enough is quasi rushing to judgement.

I’m not saying it’s every person that says that but some people have a posting history that makes what’s going on pretty obvious despite the desire to make it seem like that’s not what’s happening.

Have you ever seen The Shawshank Redemption? These miscarriages of justice happen, you see. There is precedent.

There may be court precedent here...

Look up the case

Wang v. Poon, 302 DLR (4th) 679, 84 BCLR (4th) 199, 2008 BCCA 442 (B.C. Court of Appeal Nov. 7, 2008).

*Yup this was a real court case name!

They reopened it because of the public outcry with the Hockey Canada scandal... Immense pressure on the police for not pressing charges... Supposedly one player viewed the event but didn't participate.... initially he testified that he was unsure if it was consensual but likely was.... now his agent publicly just said he wasn't sure if it was consensual so his story likely changed which made the females story more believable, so the police jumped all over it to press charges and let the courts decide is my guess. The whole thing smells tbh but if their guilty they should go to jail
Someone'a testimony changing from "no" to "maybe" seems like a pretty big deal.

What a mess this whole situation is.

I can tell in this thread who has a daughter...

I can tell in this thread who has had girls "lying on him." There's this one strange dude who pretty much only ever shows up for these threads who's admitted as much in the past. Creepy as hell.

And I'd really appreciate it if we could please stop using "running (a) train." It's also creepy as hell, even when you are on the right side of this.

There was a time once, when I was a kid. In those days I was young. A chicken attacked me. I was defeated. I have since eaten numerous chickens. I absorbed their powers. Now I am supreme.

I'm not a lawyer though.

A gang of chickens would whoop your ass. Then walk around bobbing their heads like "who's next?"

Seems even weirder police would re-open a case they closed 3 years ago and lay 5 charges of sexual assault down on people they deemed not guilty, purely because of public pressure.

Does that happen? Ever? Seems extremely unlikely.

"Yeah we already investigated, and yeah we already found them not guilty, but people are upset by that so we're going to charge 5 people with sexual assault" I can't even imagine a scenario where this happens.
I don't know who you are talking too. But based on your response the original person is way to much of either an attention seeking troll, or flat out stupid for them to not be on everyone's ignore list.

I have to ask, do we know for sure that she was intoxicated or is that just rumours? Thanks.

A question for some of you...if the players are found not guilty, will they come back to play for their respective teams or do you see them going overseas? I am assuming not guilty will allow them back but will they come back?
