Friedman: Carolina is interested in JT Miller

Your title is: "FRIEDMAN: Carolina is interested in JT Miller". By that, you are implying that Friedman is saying Carolina is interested in JT Miller, and he's not saying that.

He starts the segment by saying : The rumor going around is Carolina (interested in Miller)

yes, he shoots it down saying he doesnt think it will happen...so what???

He is still reporting that the rumor going around right now is Carolina is interested in Miller and that he also heard Carolina mentioned was in on Miller in the summer.

you’re hearing what you want to hear and not actually listening objectively

Sad.

CAR was interested in Tkachuk over the summer, this is well documented.

FOR YOUR BENEFIT, WHAT IM GOING TO SAY NEXT IS S-P-E-C-U-L-A-T-I-O-N, (as you seem to struggle with reality and accuracy, felt like I needed a disclaimer)…

The 3 way trade referenced most likely had Miller headed to CGY, Tkachuk to CAR and various futures, like Necas, to VAN.

Kotkaniemi's contract will age well on a team that can afford to give him opportunity. Miller's isn't trending well and it hasn't even started.
Kotka is actual shite mate, and he's making nearly 5 million for the next 7 years.

I think the general opinion of JT Miller on here is way off the mark. Vancouver's situation this season has people down on anything to do with them. But Miller is a great hockey player, and a lot of teams would and should be interested if he were available for a trade.

Too many wanna-be moderators here, If mods want to change the title then thats fine. otherwise it would be more beneficial if people actually had productive insights to the convo, nobody is forcing you to be in the thread either.

Hard to have productive insights when the premise of the thread is presented as something not true

He would also do well on a team that is insulated with proven leadership.

He was fine when the Canucks had the likes of Edler, Tanev, Markstrom etc....only after those guys left was when Miller probably felt like he had to be a leader, and unfortunately, his leadership skills are very blunt and abrasive.

It also didnt help that he had a coach like Bodreau who pretty much let the inmates run the asulum and held nobody accountable.

Thats why I think being on a team like Carolina would be a really good fit.

KK 4.8M till 2030 or Miller 8M till 2030, Miller is obviously the better player now but he'll be 38-39, KK will be 29-30

I find it hard to believe that anyone would wanna commit that type of money to Miller but we'll see. if VAN retains 500k to 1M they might do it to allin for the Cup. (edit: seems like you can't retain on a contract that hasn't started yet?)

Miller's contract will eventually be brutal but the question is when, KK is pretty brutal right now but you gotta wonder if there's still upside with him (and if Carolina is willing to wait). It's an interesting trade to think about for sure, Carolina is competing now.

If anyone does trade for Miller i definitely think it'll be Carolina.
So Kotkaniemi for Miller? 40 points at 5 mil for 80 points at 8 mil. Definitely makes the Canes better right now.

He starts the segment by saying : The rumor going around is Carolina (interested in Miller)
But HE doesn't have any insight to it being a legit rumor and has stated he doesn't think it's legit, so thus your title is mis-represnting what was said. I think you know that but don't want to admit it, which is fine.

Kotka is actual shite mate, and he's making nearly 5 million for the next 7 years.

Id do Kotka plus + for a Miller trade if the plus was worth it.

KK could slot in as a 3C of the future and the Canucks can draft a high end C this draft, ( Bedard, Fantili, Smith, )

But HE doesn't have any insight to it being a legit rumor and has stated he doesn't think it's legit, so thus your title is mis-represnting what was said. I think you know that but don't want to admit it, which is fine.

LMAO so why did he bring up Miller at all in the segment? it wasnt like he was asked about Miller or was promtped to do so.

He brought it up because as he said " the rumor right now is Carolina"

whether he believes it or not is irrevelevant, his job is to report what he is hearing.

What he is hearing is Carolina and Miller linked.

He didn't say the rumor wasn't legit. He is saying the rumor that Carolina is interested in Miller definitely exists, he says he doesn't see it coming to fruition. He could think that Carolina is interested but not at the Canucks asking price so he doesn't see it happening, that doesn't make it an "illegitimate" rumor. The fact that he's mentioning that he's heard the rumor makes it legit.

Just change it to "Carolina is interested in JT Miller?"

You get the discussion you want and won't have the commentary about what Friedman actually said.

Kotkaniemi on the other hand is a 22 year old center with a fairly good chance of improving his production to the point where his $4.8m contract is palatable at the very least.
This is his third NHL season and he has shown evidence that he will magically improve. Source for your optimism?

If you look at Miller's production, his contract is actually not far off. What do you think he will get as a UFA?
You are equating one terrible contract with another one that has "might" have negative value. It's incredibly disingenuous.

Dude's barely a 30 point player with 2 mins of PP time a night rn. You guys hate a near PPG winger made C at 8 million, I guarantee you you will absolutely hate a 25 point 3C at 5 million. 15 ES points in 51 games this year.

Edit: I'd get it if JT had way more time on the contract than KK, but it's 7 compared to 8. yuck.

Sorry, not sure what Van is thinking. No one is giving them a 1st rounder and top spects for Miller and that horrible contract. They should just get out of his contract, they are obviously rebuilding. Why tie up the cap space for him?
Didn't you guys just sign Horvat to a longer, higher AAV, while only being two years younger?

Yep, a captain, a leader and a good club house guy along with being a heck of a player. Oppossed to a cancer in the locker room, horrible to teammates. I think it was the right call. But good luck with JT.

Is there any evidence you have for this?

You lot really make it hard to root for Horvat on his new team.

8.5 mil for a player never to have hit 65 pts.... those are some damn expensive intangibles!

and if Miller was a locker room cancer as you claim he is, guess who the Captain was that couldnt control him....

LoL, its fine if you think Miller's contract is horrible at 8 mil a year but dont be hypocritical and say Horvat was a good singing at 8.5 mil a year when Miller outscored Horvat by like 60 pts in the last 3-4 years.

Try watching your star player recently calling him a jerk during an interview. Try reading some of the reporter state how he's not a good guy in the locker room. Try watching the video of him screaming at his goalie and slamming his stick over the net.....

Did we overpay? I would have like a 7yr for 8M would have been fine. But all things considered, it's fine. Rather have him all day long then Miller that's for sure. Would have rather gotten Meier but old man Lou didn't go that way.

It’s actually Kotkaniemi’s 5th season. That said he’s still only 22.
