He seems like the type of guy whose going to enjoy a quiet retirement with family when the time comes, so I don't think so. I could see him be some sort of ambassador, showing up for big events and such, but an active every day coaching job? I'd be shocked.
He apparently worked with Monty ahead of the WC so it's not out of the question that he'd be here in some capacity. If he does want a less active role they could do something like bring him in during development camp to work with the prospects.

One big difference between the two: Price showed up in the playoffs. He’s actually better in the playoffs than the regular season.

Thornton a loser? I’ll leave that discussion for another thread.
Joe Thornton was a big reason Sharks didn't win a Cup. He was a one dimensional player who did not change in the playoffs. He refused to shoot the puck or go to the net. He stayed on the side boards and passed the puck. Easy to cover the Sharks PP. Just leave Thornton alone and cover the other players. Marleau was the complete player.
Price was the reason for most of Habs post season success.

Man I still get sad sometimes thinking Carey is done. I grew up watching Saku but I matured alongside the Carey core. Now I'm old (not compared to you guys) and dont have time to catch every game or follow even a single prospect.

Ps. I wouldn't try and get another job in hockey if I had a hundred million dollars either. You'd never see me again I'd be pooping on my gold toilet on my private island.

Right, you'd do what you want to do,you've earned that right. Most people gravitate to what they like to do, Price likes rodeo and stuff like that, good for him.He should not feel obliged whatsoever to do something he really does not desire.

Price doesn't strike me as a bright hockey mind nor does he seem like the type of guy who likes hockey enough to make it his career after hockey.
What is it about moving home to BC while still being paid 10.5m per year to be a Montreal Canadien that suggests to you he really likes being around the team?
These 2 quotes are probably the most confusing, non-sensical, and deliberately ignorant thoughts I've seen on this board.

Carey wants to go fishing and wear cowboy hats. The closest he'll get to a management position was when he blanked out on the draft table this June.

Not saying he'll never get a token position in the organization, but he shouldn't. He played 154 games on a 104 million dollar contract.
This isn’t fair Frank. He’s technically still on the roster because of his contract but he’s all but retired. It’s not really fair to him or the team to have him linger around in the background when he can’t play. He was the face of this franchise for a decade and it’s time for the team to create a new identity without him. He’s doing his part by appearing at the draft and team functions like that.

What's not fair about it? Has he put some sort of effort into a post hockey, hockey career that I missed? I've seen nothing from him that suggests that he wants to continue with professional hockey.

I don't see him becoming a coach or getting involved in management, as you mentioned I feel like he'll just chill for the rest of his days instead.

And for the games played into the contract thing, I was just implying that the team doesn't really "owe" him a token front office job, he already got a very generous severance package.

Very true but out of every goalie who played in the NHL in the 21st century, I'd prefer Carey Price as a goalie coach. His technical abilities are unmatched so much so that it's become a meme for analysts to compare any goaltending draftee with any semblance of elite technical ability to Carey Price. I don't really see him as a front office type of guy but I think he can help in the goaltending department of development

Question is, does he actually want that

He’s on LTIR. He can’t do anything until his contract is over if he wants to keep getting paid so I’d say that talk is 3 years premature.

He could be around the club at all times like Byron was...
This reminds of when people got outraged over Weber not showing up to a team function. These guys really don’t owe the team anything. They’re medically unfit to play and that’s why there’s insurance. What they choose to do to pass time makes no difference. Paul Byron was from around the area, not Western Canada. And he only had 1 year left as opposed to the 4 Price had. Not comparable situations.

They don't owe the team anything? What kind of logic is that? They're being paid by the team...

He was top goalie at every level - CHL goalie of the year, AHL Calder Cup MVP, and of course international w Team Canada @ WJC and Olympics.

Slam dunk 1st ballot HOFer, once he’s eligible
He'll get into the Hall of Fame without a doubt, I think the biggest debate is if he should have his jersey retired by the Habs.

If I’m off for a work related injury and on WCB, there’s nothing that says I have to hang around work while I’m recovering if I’m unfit to work. It’s no different in the NHL. Montreal is the only team with fans in the NHL that I’ve seen get visibly upset by players doing things within their rights. What difference does it make if Price is hanging around the room if he’s not playing or flying out for team functions? Why does that bother you?

Are you the best or one of the best resources in the entire world? I highly doubt about that.

Your comparison stands no ground.

How true is that though. It's obviously his choice but if he wanted to show up at practice and work with Monty/Allen I'm not sure anything stops him from doing it.

As a similar example Komisarek stepped in behind the bench while injured for some games.

I would argue that Price's composure was a myth, there is and always has been some weird disconnect with him that people mistake for composure. He was terrible for his final 5 seasons with glimpses of his talent. He was huge in the Cup Finals run but was largely to blame for almost missing the playoffs. He rescued his 2018-19 season with an incredible finish after being the primary cause for sinking the season with an atrocious first half.

I will always have a soft spot for him as he was a legend at his peak but he mentally caved in too many times in his career including in the playoffs. What we saw on draft day was a glimpse of what has always been there. When things are going well he is able to disconnect from the pressure but the opposite happens when he is off and it has always been an ugly site.

Hopefully Carey finds peace and can enjoy life without the pressure that was/is too much for him to handle. He seems like a very kind introverted person who was appallingly shoved into the spotlight and the coping mechanism that most of us mistook for composure was breaking down for the world to see. My heart went out to him in Nashville and hopefully the organization will just allow him to fade into obscurity with his family where he is more comfortable and at ease with the world.
He showed his composure when trying to select Reinbacher. Haha. I agree with everything you said.

I'm not bias at all no way, but I would argue the opposite. I'd say he was as composed as can be for a goalie.

Pressure wise he was always at his best when the games mattered the most. Be it WJC, Olympics, Playoffs, etc - he was always money. You could see it on the ice too. He was so in control of the game and his team always fed off of that. Truly a sight to watch even if the end result didn't go his way.

His regular seasons are wonky yeah. Not all of them tho he had some really good ones too, but lots of stinkers his last 5 like you said. Really makes it tough to fairly judge his career considering how good he was when the stakes were high. But i also feel had we iced better teams during those years, we'd also see Price match that and elevate his game too.

Guy was just a stoic in the crease. Always thought he was the perfect guy for the CH. His composure was the least of worries me personally
