As someone that has lived in and around the denver area for 25 years I would say I’m surprised if she was happy here in CO. Denver ain’t no fancy metropolis either. Not a social influencer kind of place unless you are influencing outdoorsy stuff.

Maybe I'm misremembering it but I seem to recall former NBA player Carmelo Anthony's wife (a VH1 host once upon a time) didn't like Denver and lobbied for her husband to force the Nuggets to trade him to the Knicks.

Honestly aside from NYC, LA, and I guess Miami, what "glamour" places are left in North America? Every city is different but pretty much every American city has more in common with every other city except those 3 plus Chicago, Toronto, and Vancouver.

I like Dallas but it's just as Suburban-y as Raleigh but with more money. Fort Worth is the city with the cowboy culture that everyone thinks Dallas is.

I’d take Chicago every day of the week over Dallas or Tampa. LA and Miami aren’t for me but I completely understand the allure. But the Panthers area is more Ft. Lauderdale than Miami, and….no. Not glamorous at all.

Have you been to both? I have. Chicago is an absolute dump with a horrible team and outlook for the next few years.

Stankoven is a guy we're all going to miss, I'm sure y'all will love having him on your team. A little snake bit on the scoresheet or sophomore slump, but this guy gives you everything he's got every shift. His dedication, effort, grit, heart, whatever you want to call it, just isn't something a player can decide to have overnight. He can play up and down the lineup, and with more minutes might surprise some of you here that aren't sold on him yet.

You have to give to get, but believe me - most Dallas fans did NOT want to see him go for anything short of a trade like this and are still bummed to see him go regardless.

His playoff performance was incredible. His effort and determination is noticeably far beyond guys 6 inches taller and 50 lbs heavier. You get excited to see him on the ice after watching the previous line fart around and accomplish nothing. Even when the pucks aren't going in, the dude is a constant threat. One of those guys that just makes you nervous to see come on the ice for the other team while you've only got a one goal lead or a tie game.

The point production will come, and I think you'll be happy with him. We all wish him nothing but the best here in Dallas!

Mikko might rise to the top of the most hated Hurricanes affiliation at this rate. Up there with such names at Eric Haula, Adam Fox, Brad Malone….
Understandable. to me, its sad as the team made a bold move and got rejected for reasons that were probably impossible to foresee. I think rantanen, if motivated and happy, would have been a spectacular fit for this team.

Its funny, the more I hear about this and then seeing that interview, especially after reading the rumors earlier in the week, his girlfriend seems like an insufferable bitch. Probably spent the entire time after the trade whining and crying that she wasn't in Denver anymore, spending every waking moment reminding him of how miserable she was in Raleigh to the point that it caused issues in our own lockerroom.

On that hand, glad they are gone, If that is going to be the kind of things that will derail his performance, good luck with that, Dallas.
This truly is the most likely reason for why he ignored all of the good things with our team; long time friend from his home country (Aho), good and well respected head coach, annual playoff team, and good fans. The money wasn't an issue because we offered more than what he signed for with Dallas and more than what Colorado offered. So if it's not the team's quality, and it's not money, what is it?

p***y.

This whole thing with Rantanen has been so very strange, but the enigma is solved when you realize it's his girlfriend that's been the biggest influence. Raleigh is not Winnipeg, etc. but as others said, she's an "influencer" and wants to be in a big city. She doesn't sound like wife material to me, but that's his problem.

Listening to a interview Stankoven did with a Dallas radio station he sounds pretty bummed and definitely didn’t see it coming but he says he’s already looking forward to proving Dallas wrong so I think he’s already got a fire lit under him

He’ll be fine. He’s 22, and Rod will have him wanting to run through a brick wall before you know it. Which is good since running into walls seems like something he’s good at.

Someone earlier was saying something about a playoff bloodbath. Possible, as I’m watching this Devils game. Very physical and if that is indeed the matchup, it will undoubtedly be their MO. Go get Reaves!

The other thing with Rantanen and his girlfriend: it wasn't even his wife that dictated he go somewhere else instead of staying in Raleigh. It's just a girlfriend. Apparently he REALLY wants to stay with her and presumably marry her though.

Hey we're allowed to get wrapped up in our feelings!!

We've jettisoned my two favorite players in Turbo and Nachos and all we have to show is a Stank-oven!!!
You don't have to be gross about it though, bro!

though honestly I wasn't even referring to anything you said that I can think of.

Is what it is. Hopefully, the board has gotten the worst of the talk out of its system.

Thanks, and we hope a different Rants shows up for you than the guy we got. I suspect that’ll be the case.

The day it happened the only way I was good with Rants was if there was a contract. The second I heard there wasn’t any talks it was obvious it was short term. I didn’t like the idea of giving him 13 before he sucked for us and I certainly didn’t like the idea after.

We missed a big time bullet imo, and we got some good assets. Stank will probably fit in like a glove. In the end I wish we did better or targeted needs better through Necas but I’m glad it’s all over and don’t mind the outcome.

I think Tulsky was off chasing this though, I think he was off using Necas to get a rental and he was off acting from day one like he was fine with Rants walking. This isn’t our year. Somewhere in the endless amounts of info fed I read TD stepped in and made sure Rants got moved. No idea if that’s accurate but if it’s true it’s the first time I’m ok with TD and his style. If true it helped us here.

I agree it's a weird time to make a move like this, but for years all we've heard is that Carolina needs an impact player to push them over the top. Well, Rantanen was theoretically one of those and it was a relatively low cost of it had worked out. So I don't mind taking the shot when it was available, even if the timing wasn't great.

I like that they’ve willing to take risks, but hopefully in the future, the moves will be a little more calculated. Necas should have only been traded for a sure thing. A simple conversation with Rantanen’s agent may have avoided all of this mess. If the Avs were unwilling to let Tulsky talk to the agent prior to the trade, you walk away. Hopefully lessons have been learned.

They have an absolute crap-ton of assets and space to retool this summer. I guess they’ll be throwing tons of $$$ at Marner, Ehlers and/or Boeser. And I bet they revisit Pettersson too.

Hopefully Stankoven is the 2nd coming of Seth Jarvis and can viably fill a top 6 role. What’s most frustrating is the $3-4M the Canes now have in space that they can’t use b/c Rantanen screwed them in taking so long to make up his stinking mind.

I feel like folks are overrating the value Necas had to get a sure thing major deal done. In the offseason the couple of rumored deals seemed to be based around a high draft picks or prospects. Pettersson certainly seemed to be on the table this season, but that carries massive red flags (because of which, we still might have a chance to grab him this offseason if so inclined). I'm not really sure what sure thing we were getting with a couple of years remaining. At least we ended up with long term value in the end.

Exactly. The rumored deal in the off-season was Necas to Columbus for their 1st round pick. Obviously, a lottery pick is great, but getting Hall + Stankoven + two 1sts is probably more valuable than most lottery picks

Especially when you consider Stankoven. Stankoven alone (in his current form) is probably worth a top-10 pick in a weaker draft.
