Injury Report: Captain JT injury (aftermath)

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
It's a hockey forum... it's where fans come to talk out their @#$. Let's not put a lot of stock into what anyone says here. Some of us will post the worst case scenario just to brace ourselves for a possible outcome. Tavares having a concussion now feels like good news compared to a lot of other possible outcomes.

100 perecent! Although a concussion can be serious, it could have also been compounded by other significant trauma, I love that he is home resting.

First off my prayers are with JT and family. My hopes are that it isn’t anything serious although it looked like it was during that time.

Now on what transpired. In my eyes Perry did not mean to do what he did. He was trying to get out of the way. Unfortunately he didn’t. I have no issue with what Foligno did. It’s two fold, one answering back seeing ur leader knocked out. Two trying to get his teams heads back into the game. So no issue at all with what Foligno did.

Now with all of that said, this is far from over. The player on Montreal that cause all of this was Chariot. There is no doubt in my mind that he will be a target the rest of this series. He was beat by Tavares on the play, and stuck his leg out to take out Tavares. It’s there in plain video. The team will see this and expect Simmonds or Foligno to answer the bell early in game 2.

Chariot was taking liberties with Matthews, Marner and Hyman all night. Wouldn’t surprise me at all to see things getting a little nasty next game.

I actually almost cried today.
When I saw the whole thing live I was just sitting silently, waiting for something to happen, and was finally released after he put up his hand.

And today the whole event just hit me so hard. I tried to explain my girlfriend what happened but I couldn't...

Seeing that he is okay and home is a huge relief. I dont even care if he comes back this year or not, just get healthy and be with your family Captain.

It's crazy, usually the day after a playoff loss I think about the game and what can be improved.

Yet, the game didn't even register in my mind today and I only thought about whether or not JT is okay. Just shows how quickly things can happen and snap everything into perspective.

Agreed. I literally don't care about the game. I just want JT to be ok.

Sounds like nothing life altering or career ending which was the hope from all of us. Great news. If the boys can go on a run, we could very well see JT back! I'm guessing he's shut down for at least this series

I would think this series for sure (not that my opinion means a thing) but it's hard to see him back this series.

If he is fine doing everyday things with no symptoms today and tomorrow he could be back on ice on Sunday .. i would never bet against JT .. not saying he will but i guarantee you he won't sit around at home doing nothing if he is fine .. lets hope

When I refer to the Oilers as LOilers that gets me a slap on a wrist from the Mods. But putting information about a sensitive issue as a captain not playing next season without any facts or basis is good to go! BTW, just head over to the Oilers forum and see the lack of humanity there. Heck this post will probably get me banned for a few days.

I feel like resting at home less than 24 hours after it happened has to be a good sign.

I don't care about the hockey, i just hope my Captain comes back when he can healthy and lives a happy life with no long term effects.

Their own fans call them themselves the Coilers.

What is your definition of a long while? No palpable damage, but he did absolutely get knocked out cold, so he should be held out for a while anyway, but I could definitely see him playing in a matter of weeks.

I was thinking probably a month. Like 3rd round if he even comes back.

It depends on a lot of things... his neck especially looked like it whip lashed pretty good.

I would be surprised if he doesn't have a concussion but weirder things have happened.

Good to hear he is doing fine. If this team needed motivation, they have it now. If they don't respond, then IDK what to say.

The let Chariot get away with a lot. I actually cannot stand the way that defense plays.

That Montreal D likes to crosscheck players on the back even after Price freezes the puck...I would stand right next to Price and land on him with an elbow to the head if I got crosschecked after the play. Hyman received a heavy crosscheck after the play last night, he was on the ice for awhile catching his breath. The refs need to call these for roughing...a player shouldn't be allowed to crosscheck another player hard after the puck is frozen and the whistle goes.
