So. Haakon Hänelt. Can he really play both Forward and Defense? I can see how that could be a secret weapon.

100 games is a pretty low threshold. For reference, Travis Boyd is at 124 NHL regular season games. Siegenthaler spent basically all of last year benched, and is at 105 and counting. Christian Djoos is at 155. Madison Bowey is one ahead of Djoos at 156. Even if guys like Alexeyev, Fehervary, or Lapierre end up "busting," they will likely still hang around the NHL periphery long enough to hit 100 games.

I suppose it still separates from the Riley Barbers - 100 games played indicates at least spending a few seasons in the NHL instead of simply being an AHL call-up/journeyman.

Definitely true. Some of that is draft pedigree/aging curve (1st and 2nd round picks and early bloomers will get a longer leash and more NHL chances than later picks, late bloomers, and guys who go thru the NCAA like Barber). That's why I specified some of the players I did in my post. :)

That being said, I would be very surprised if fewer than 4 or 5 guys hit 100 games from this list, and I'm not particularly Bullish on the Capitals prospect core. The top 3 seem like very safe bets to hit 100 games, even if they don't pan out as NHL stars (or even career NHLers). Lapierre has a little more boom or bust and injury concerns to his game, so it's possible he doesn't hit it, but there's enough talent there that he should be able to bounce around to 100 games even as a semi-bust (like a Marko Dano-type). Then hopefully at least one of the next bunch of prospects makes it as a career guy (and guys like Protas and Leason could flirt with 100 games as 4th liner types on the right teams even if their offense doesn't translate to the NHL).

2-3 of Lapierre, Protas, Leason, Iorio, Johnson, AJF, Nardella, Bjorklund.

G’s can come outta nowhere. And the F’s could surprise. Plus the 2 new young D. Wouldn’t shock if either made some noise

I think history shows that maybe about a 3rd of the group will.

I argue against the averages when supporting the Caps top players. I cant very well just buy the averages. I apoligize for asking. I was just hoping for some insight on these specific players.

No need to apologize.

My point is that at any one point in time, our drafting history usually shows that a third of our top 15 or so prospects will have an NHL “career”. I think your metric of 100 games is a good barometer for a “career”.

it may be more than that.

Has anyone been able to check out Rookie camp or not? I know that it's happening just haven't heard much reporting about it. Would love to hear any initial impressions
