Someone please explain to me how Dru Krebs is a -54 on the season?

Even more impressive he's leading the league by a wide margin lmao

I think he's leading the entire CHL too and Medicine Hat is also the worst team in the CHL. Just really bad and it seems like it may have cost Bjorklund a contract as well.

Top NCAA goal scorer and he’s getting a 1 year AHL deal. Crazy the level of difference in these players sometimes…
Dryden McKay from Minnesota State finished his career with a loss in the Frozen Four and is one of the best goaltenders in NCAA history. He just became only the third goaltender ever to win the Hobey Baker Award -- Ryan Miller was the last goalie to win it, back in 2001 -- and he's the all-time NCAA leader in shutouts.

Went undrafted and is still not signed. Would love to sit down with a scout for a few hours and review film with them to see how they think about prospects.

Looks like NHLN will carry all US & Canada games at the U18s starting with tomorrow's head-to-head tilt at 330 eastern. Plenty of mid-first candidates in that one, albeit more lean on Canada's side than usual. For them it's mainly Goyette, who I believe will be playing wing on Bedard's line and figures to reap the benefits. The US of course features the NTDPers Cooley, Nazar, Gauthier, McGroarty, Snuggerud, Chesley and Howard.

Should the Caps pass PIT they could pick around #22, which still figures to be a decent spot. They just might not be able to be quite as selective. I have a tier separation at 22 currently but I could see a handful of so fairly easily blurring that gap with strong finishes in the U18s or CHL playoffs (which start tonight in the WHL/OHL). Goyette, Chesley & Howard are among that group at the U18s.

A cool four goal game for Howard vs. the Canadians to open up the U18s. He could have had six or seven. I still find it tough to put him in the top 20 but certainly it's conceivable. I'm not sure there's a ton of separation between, say, six and 15 or 15 and 25. I was left wanting more from Snuggerud & McGroarty. Chesley was solid. Cooley & Nazar were just good given their draft placement. I don't know that I'd be thrilled with this group overall were I a GM with a lot riding on a top five or ten pick relative to most other years.

Canada may struggle. Bedard & Fantilli will go very early in the 2023 draft but I'm not sure they have any clear-cut first rounders in the one coming up. Goyette showed glimpses of slick short area skill but struggled to put it together. Pickering has the frame and skating suggesting potential but I'm not altogether sold on the sense. I can see Pickering being a fringe first rounder but it's a very lean group for Canada at the top-end. It's early but the supporting cast looks thin. They're going to need those top two headliners to go superhero.

The Caps ought to have many viewings while monitoring Rybinski. I have him 20th currently with maybe a few spots higher up for grabs if he produces at a high clip deep into the WHL playoffs. He's maybe not an altogether ideal fit as a lefty PP piece from the point but down the line who knows? Right around that range he becomes an appealing upside play, though upping his defensive intensity will be key to progress toward higher leverage overall usage in the NHL. I have him in a group from 20-25 that all make for relatively equal quality bets (along with Ohgren, Howard, Snuggerud, Chesley & Mesar). Still very much subject to change but that handful as a worst-case barring a CF appearance is pretty decent. I've bumped up Kasper & Gaucher into the teens lately due to their work rate and what increasingly seems like a fairly dire situation up the middle in the coming years in that regard.

3+1 for Kulich in an OT win over Canada. Another guy making a strong case for the top 20.

N/m I just realized you meant Korchinski not Rybinski

Korchinski kept it rolling with 2+1 last night. Rybinski assisted on his GWG and had a strong night in the circle. They can finish off Kelowna tonight potentially. Iorio's Wheat Kings went down in their series 2-1. Moose Jaw can sweep Saskatoon tonight with a win after last night's OT win.

Kelowna, Saskatoon, Wheat Kings, Moose Jaw... I'm pretty sure Canada was created by Hanna-Barbera.

Canada out in the U18 quarters to Finland. Not sure Team Canada coach (and former Cap) Baumgartner will be getting any future calls after that performance. Not a great squad but they were a mess. I don't know if they'll have a single first rounder in the upcoming draft. Goyette & Pickering were fringe coming in and I can only move them down after that.

Jiri Kulich with another couple goals against the Swiss. Eight goals in four games puts him pretty squarely into the top 20 IMO.
