Is that MacLellan over there? It boggles the mind to hear him say we need to draft top 6 forwards. Why didn't he get axed after 5 years of failures.

Not sure if serious? I mean, winning a Stanley Cup in DC after 44 years of failure, buys one a fair amount of leeway. His seat may be getting warmer, but its not exactly burning hot yet. The criticism is fair, but Ted is extraordinarily patient.

This is my recollection as well. Haven't really seen or heard of them getting involved with the Capitals post playing career. Just Alzner. But says something for the area that they have come back.
Holtby loves this area. He used to live close to me and his kids were friends with my neighbor’s kids so I chatted with him a few times. Also talked to him at the Human Rights Campaign gala towards the end of the season in his final year here and he said he was hoping to stay but didn’t think numbers would work out but that this was where they wanted to be after he retired. They’re incredibly down to earth and decent people, you’d have no idea he was a pro athlete if you met him. Glad to hear he’s back and it’s also a good indication that his playing career is over. Time to text my old neighbor to see if Holts is looking for a local beer league team to join!

Brutal list. Orlov being the prized free agent of the offseason seems like it would net him a premium. Hard to imagine him taking a discount to stay in DC and if he doesn't take one I think Washington should stay away. He was fantastic in DC but there are some warning signs that his game will start to deteriorate sooner rather than later.

its already deteriorating, that's why the Caps moved on.

I'm still rooting for him to get paid big bucks though, my gut tells me Columbus.

If we’re going to be making big changes, either some crazy shit has to happen in the rfa market (i.e. strome last year) or trades

Every offseason there are big pieces available, although teams may not want what we're offering.

Even Wilson only has one year left.

I'd like Carbery but if he goes to a destination like that it's still a domino or piece off the board or whatever metaphor you'd use. Makes the Halpern market more manageable I'd think
