Thank God Laviolette is gone. Can’t wait to see the Rangers regression.
I dunno. I “get” that it didn’t end up working here for Lavi. It just didn’t.

However he’s still an awfully sound coach, and usually adds a 1st yr positive bump to his teams.

Wouldn’t surprise me — AT ALL — to see the Rags start out strong. Them and Devils for the first 20 games. I think the Canes will regress, and the Pens/Caps/Isles will muddle around .500 for the first 20.

Obv Flyers and CBus are seemingly in trouble.

8-19-39 does look like 3rd line of ES

some PP for them, sure

kind of like it

ps: I cant find at least 1 winger for it to be true. then it has to be 1st line? f*** me

I had some meetings in the area and needed to get my skates sharpened so I stopped by MedStar today. Sat around for about 30 minutes and here are my observations:

- I taped the skating test for one group: Jensen, Strome, Wilson, Oshie, Kuznetsov, Edmundson. Wilson smoked most of the group with Jensen coming in right behind him. Wilson looks very good and appears to be in terrific shape.
- Edmundson finished third in the group. I know it’s just a skating test but his skating looked better than I remembered. He came in right behind Jensen.
- Strome, Oshie, and Kuznetsov finished in that order. I wish I could say Kuznetsov looked game ready but he was the weakest of the group by a decent margin. Could be nothing and that he is doing just enough to pass but it wasn’t great seeing him try to catch Oshie and Strome.
- Mantha looks real good. I hope he can stay healthy because he looks like he’s chomping at the bit. He was skating like the playoffs start tomorrow.
- I spoke with a member of the Caps organization who I’ll keep anonymous. He said he still expects a move to change the top six and he expects it soon before training camp really begins in earnest. Said BMac took some big swings this summer and other GMs wouldn’t bite. I tried to press him for a few more details on who could be or might have been involved but that’s as much as I got.
- Said person also said this season could be tough sledding. He mentioned there’s renewed energy among the group and he thinks they’ll be a better team than last year but he thinks the division (and conference) got a lot tougher. Thinks they could be a really good team and still finish 5th or 6th in the division. I asked him if they’d pick higher or lower than 8OA and he said, “Man, that is a tough one. I really don’t know. A lot depends on how healthy they stay and how they start the year.”

I have meetings in that area again tomorrow so I’ll stop by again if I can and report on what I see.

Maybe we can meet up, @Marshall?

I have a meeting tomorrow @ 10, but if I find any wiggle room I'll try and get down there.

Some insight into the Carbery "philosophy" and Kuzy's buy-in.

So he’s 100%….so if he comes backs and stinks, he’s just cooked…fingers crossed.

They have a lot of top 9 forwards.
Ovechkin
Backstrom
Wilson
Mantha
Kuznetsov
Oshie
Strome
Pacioretty
Milano
McMichael
ALL the KIDS

CMM waiver exempt still? Oh the drama if he is and doesn’t make the opening night roster….
