My read is Lappy isnt making the team at center.
Sure, but if he's not given the shot to show it now I just don't see them actually transitioning him. And it's also partly I don't expect him to look outstanding at wing which could mean scratches.

Also RMNB with more about the Kuzya podcast. If the translations are to be believed, man was dragging Lavi and even kinda GMBM. He also parroted a bit of what fans were saying on this board and got ridiculed for. :)

Same story, different season. The team is deep both at forward and on the blue line and should have good goaltending. The question will be if their highest paid players play like it or if they get paid a lot to get caved in most nights. If Backstrom is truly back, if Wilson and Oshie are fully healthy, and if Kuzy cares again they could make it interesting. If not then any move not involving core players is just rearranging the deck chairs as the ship slowly goes down and we’ll just have to root for Ovi to fill the net with pucks and for fun lottery ball bounces.

I actually don’t think they’re going to be terrible in a few years when Ovi is gone. It’s this and next season when their cap is tied up with the old guys that things could be tough.
Just this season. Next offseason they’ll have cap room a-plenty.

Its been 4+ years but I admit I still have SC win in my brain which means I don't get bent out of shape/pressure for this season expectations. Admittedly the all time goal chase is a big deal. The playoffs are such a different type of game than regular season. Caps will need to have some injury luck. Also Carbery balancing the veterans, new system, young players in a way that has chemistry. Also can he get the veterans to buy in for the better of the team when it calls for it in specific situations.

He is trying to force his way out. Jesus, are they going to have to fine him for this?

Langway posted this earlier but the chart is fixed.

Wilson should be better than what is projected. The model is going to weigh recent results more and Wilson was really bad under the hood last year. But he was also coming off an injury into a team that had given up so I think it's fair to expect a return to the norm for him.

Everyone else is up in the air. Who knows if Kuznetsov returns to a decent form. I wouldn't count on it. Same with Backstrom and Oshie. And I have no idea what to expect from Pacioretty if/when he returns from injury.

I think this year needs to be about assessment and growth. McMichael needs to play. Protas and Alexeyev need to play. Sandin needs to get top pair minutes. They need to finally determine if Fehervary can hack it in the top 4 or if he is just a third pairing dude. Heck, Carbery could use this season to get acclimated to coaching an NHL team.

And then armed with added information acquired this season they need to make aggressive but informed moves next season.

So Kuzy has indeed been disgruntled for the last 2 years and still feels betrayed by the organization, but per the rest of the article Carbery is telling him what he wants to hear about the playing style, and GMBM has said we need Kuzy despite unsuccessfully trying to trade him.

I think GMBM's comments are based on the situation alone: a new coach with a disgruntled player that's not generating interest around the league. If a good offer for Kuzy returning maybe 85% of expected value came up today he'd leap on it.

IMO this is a coin flip situation that could either result in 40 goal Kuzy or a total disaster and meltdown if he instead just becomes a Jagr-esque floater without the scoring. Mantha, as well.

Seems like the key is going to be defense from everyone else, and goaltending. If that part is handled then you can afford a Kuzy and maybe a Mantha f***ing off for 60 minutes to maybe pot a few while the rest of the team locks it down. But if they start giving up 3-4 goals or more every night without dropping 5 or more themselves, then just like every other coach who's faced this problem there will be a change in strategy and it will not make Kuzy happy.

So wait... We all get up in arms about the seemingly dumb Edmundson trade because we want Alexeyev to play and know they'll play a vet over him but when Kuzy says the same thing he's a bad guy? lol

You think it's good for players to publicly tell other players they're "fools" for signing with the team?

Is that who you want working for you? Critics who don't talk to you directly about it, and instead publicly disclose how they tried to influence your other employees to be motivated against you?

We can bitch about this stuff as rando online shitposters, but for players to be doing it AND publicizing it is a real sign of a completely fractured relationship that's being escalated.

Orlov wanted to stay and was traded, while Kuzy wanted a trade and had to stay. This pissed him off. He's now trying to make lemonade out of lemons but it will go back to being very sour in a hurry if things don't go perfectly.

The whole story about AA was said in a funny way.
It's not like Kuzya will organise a riot in front of Capital One with a "don't sign for the Caps" sign
Look at his laughs between 17:10 and 17:40

In some way I get that maybe this is not the best way to communicate but it really is refreshing that Kuzy is that outspoken. Gives people something to talk about and it is not that bad. I like it. Perhaps I'm just tired of the PR-answers.

It’s not refreshing….not from that dumbass. It’s poor form from a guy who hasn’t played up to the huge contract he was signed to.
The more he talks the harder he is to trade. No wonder no other team would touch him. He's too dimwitted to realize that the more he runs his mouth, the harder it is to grant his trade wish. Guy has no common sense.

We're stuck with him, and the only hope is that the new system agrees with him and he reverts back to the player he was from a few years back. Even if that best case scenario plays out, I can't help but think that one bump in the road is all that it will take for him to regress.

Despite my criticisms and misgiving about him, I really do want to see him return to form. The Caps don't have another player that can do what he can do when he's at the top of his game. He's an amazing talent to watch when he's motivated.

<<So that there’s no feeling of: “We would have won if you’d played better”>>

But we would have won [more] if Kuzy had played better. That’s obvious.

Does Kuzy ever say “I need to be better” or I’ve done some stupid shit that hurt my performance and the team”? If so, I missed it.

If he wants out, he should shut the f*** up, cuz he’s making it harder to trade him
