I need to score a job where if the area I am in charge of is under performing it will not be my fault in the slightest. I’m 100% over simplifying this but regardless it would be a sweet gig.
In what way do you think they're underperforming? Do you think this is a Stanley cup contender? Do you think this is a playoff level team? Literally everyone thinks his team should have been in contention for the first overall pick, and they've been fighting for the playoffs. They've been over-performing, not underperforming.

This criticism doesn't make any sense.

Glorious red tank brings me tears.

I mean that IS his job right?
It’s not his only job though, is it? We trying to do another Erat to satisfy people who have no foresight?

“Trading for players” being his job description is a bit like saying a poker player’s only job is to put chips on the table. You still need a hand you can play, and you’re still playing other people. There’s a smart and stupid way to do it and the goal is to win, not touch a lot of cards.

So, so tiring hearing all the “do something” while ignoring everything surrounding the scenario. You do remember what the cap looked like at the beginning of the year, right?

2 competitive months is more than i expected. I can live with that, mostly just a month or so to keep either sliding or staying afloat before i can start to get excited about the trade deadline.

Will be funny if they traded some D and left with AA in the roster

Make it known we are selling and wait for someone to ask Jensen or TVR to not ruin the price

Gotta say... OV's come around to be pretty close to "normal" OV the last 7 or 8 gms; pretty much looking like the last year or two after having a tough start of the season, def got his passing twig going

Not expecting goals in bunches but it is interesting having 8-17-67 as a line where everyone can snipe, we'll see if they try it s'mo

and props to the 4th line, they've been doing it all

Yet we are still in thick of playoff race.

It’s crazy.
Could be worse.

We could be the New Jersey Devils whose fans are expecting a deep run when they are 5th worst in goals against this season. Atleast we'd need to just fight off couple of different bubble teams to reach our goal.

Even more surprising seeing Vancouver that far down. Expected at 2,43, but have most goals in the league with 3,82 per game (Also overtime in there).

Also insure about how well the stat is measured. Almost every team look to be well ahead in actual goals vs expected goals.

Or Buffalo. Or Ottawa. Or Anaheim. Teams who sucked for years and thought they were ready to compete only to still suck.

Life as a Caps fan maybe isn’t as peachy as it was a few years ago but in the grand scheme of things we’ve had it pretty great. We could be the Wizards or the Commanders.

Crosby is legit having an MVP performance, they are in 7th.

Our top line players barely have a pulse.

Honestly, hard to understand.

Even though he got hurt more, Crosby physically prepared and took care of himself during his career, Ovi didn't. Even unicorns and freaks of nature can't maintain if you're just loading up coke and mommas pasta into it day over day for 20 years.

This is load of bullshit. Ovechkin has been the more durable player throughout their careers. It's great that Crosby is still going strong but he turns 37 only after this season. Ovechkin scored 50 goals and 90 points in the season prior to turning 37. In only 77 games! Crosby is on pace for 88. Let's see Crosby reach 90 this season, finish with PPG the season after and in 2 years see where he actually is when he's 38 like Ovechkin now.

I don't know why you're trying to conflate durability with preparation. It has very little to do with taking care of yourself, or preparing properly. It's not like Ovi lost his legs just this year, he lost his unreal burst and skating ability years ago. His puck skills have been in the toilet for like a decade at this point. He was just the GOAT trigger man, and still an unreal shot if he can get the puck to stay on his stick.

Kinda feels like you’re conflating preparation with a guy whose age has just finally caught up to him….just sayin….

oh…and that durability…..comes largely from preparation. Yes, some is god-given, but you still have to cultivate that.

I’m with you…if people want to circle jerk Crosby and compare him to Ovechkin in this way….lets at least wait until 87 gets to the age where 8 truly dropped off.
