I really, truly hope I’m wrong about this, but given his history of concussions I’m rather nervous at the idea his injury has gone from a day-to-day lower body injury to a continuing upper body injury better treated at home than by the team’s usual healthcare providers?

Didin't Oshie get his back surgery done in Minnesota? Maybe im wrong. Anyway it also came out recently that he gave of playing golf to help with his back problems.

That's what my guess is. Issue with his back and he is seeking alternate treatment methods.

Holy shit. Road to the Playoffs certainly isn't easy.

Next 5 games:

Carolina Hurricanes - 4-game winning streak, points in 9 of last 10 games.

Los Angeles Kings - 8th (point %) in the league. Arguably one of the biggest Cup favourites.

Seattle Kraken - 6-game winning streak, points in 10 of their last 10 games.

New York Rangers - 1st in the league.

New York Rangers - Same match-up again.
Need 5-6pts outta the 5 games.

Yeah, it's got real LTIRetirement vibes. Either way, hope he's able to find a way to live healthy/happy for whatever's left of his NHL career and the rest of his post-retirement life.
So much this. Love the guy as a human and I will always have a soft spot in my heart for both him and his pops.

Post his playing career would be very cool to see Oshie go into coaching or broadcasting.

[Tom Gulitti] Orlov on his DC return: "A special night: first time since the trade & summertime of free agency. I was drafted in 2009, played 12 years with this organization. A lot of, obviously, great memories. ... It was not easy to stay & watch the video. It was a nice standing ovation."

[Tom Gulitti] More Orlov: "My family was here today and a lot of friends who I meet in this city. They all support and we're still good friends, saw some guys at dinner time. ... When you make friends and you can keep that all your life, that's important. . I'm emotional right now inside."

If it hasn’t been obvious since the trade and even comments he made before FA (about coming back home), Orlov genuinely did not want to get traded and he again hinted at wanting to come back last summer. The term and number must just have not worked for the Caps, even though we are paying TVR + Jensen together a little bit under the $AAV it would have taken to keep him (he also would’ve likely taken a hometown discount).

IDK about y'all, but that Orlov tribute/montage, his subsequent teary-eyed reaction, the entire crowd's appreciation, and then the lack of any celebration - rather look of sheer and utter sadness - when he scored just killed me inside.

In a perfect world, he would still be here in Washington.

Thank you, Dima. Forever my favorite defenseman on our team.

Kuznetsov cannot take the ice again after last night. That was a f***ing embarrassment. I would honestly tell him to go home until other arrangements can be made.

Also, Edmunson is awful. Patches is badly misplaced.

AA should get some games. Patches is a PP specialist, at best in his career, so put him on the PP.

This team just is what it is at this point. GMBM isn’t going to do what this team needs to address their needs. They have a shit ton of cap now and he refuses to do anything to help them. They needed scoring two years ago and it’s still the problem. Compounded by Ovi’s drought. With Mantha off the books. Buy out Kuzy. And potentially no TJ there’s no excuse not to redo this roster with scoring but sadly he’s failed to do so for years. The SC win is wearing off of him at this point and his seat should be getting hot. But we all know Ted is just as lackluster.

Okay, what do you want him to do?

Maybe I'm a GMBM apologist, but I don't know what he can do. He's tried to trade for a top-6 F, but you can't make teams agree to a deal. Unfortunately for a while now, mid season deals in the NHL are few and far between. Almost no one, besides us, has cap space and make for good trade partners.

Personally, I don’t think there is a ton he can do right now except provide some cover to Spencer on the teams struggles instead of letting his rookie coach handle all the crap going on. BMac needs to take some accountability in the situation and make it clear what the plan is moving forward. In other words he can provide leadership and take some responsibility for the current scenario they find themselves in. You may disagree but those are my thoughts.

One immediate improvement he can make is waiving Kuzy and sending him to Hershey.

After the next 4 games, let’s say we lose 3 out of the 4, the best thing he can do is prepare for next season.

Get what you can for Mantha at TDL, trade a defenseman, at this point I don’t care who it is between Edmundson,TVR, or Jensen.

If Kuzy can’t be traded, I’d send him down or scratch him. It’s been made abundantly clear that he should not be here infecting the organization next season.

Trade Kuemper if possible. The returns, outside of getting a pick for Mantha aren’t even that important if you can clear cap space.

Worst thing that can happen is for us to tread water but we’re definitely not trending to even be able to do that.
