I'm not disputing the athletics. I can tell you one thing, there are a lot of goalie coaches who would say the kid got extreme talent, but no head on his shoulders yet! When he was in the AHL, Sammy did not develop his mental game because he hardly knew any English. There is a lost in translation if you have a Russian interpretor explaining to the goalie what the goalie coach is saying. All the great goalies of the past will tell ya the same thing that a goalies mental game has to be stronger than his physical game to stick a long time in the NHL. As soon as Sammy faced mental adversity with the Caps, he failed. Now with the Leafs, Sammy has faced great mental adversity and he's failing again! Even at age 26 he needs some Russian mentors to help him get his mind set right again. I would even suggest a sports psychologist to try to help him.
