Re: Kuzy........can't you waive a guy and just tell him to stay home? Or do you have to send him to Hershey or SC or loan him to another team.

I agree that you wouldn't want him around the kids in Hershey.
If Kuzy was waived and sent to Hershey, he would not report and go back to the KHL. He would not have the pride playing down in the AHL.

Agree to disagree….he‘s just a flawed guy. No amount of extra coddling and ball washing changes his flaws. He’s weak mentally. Athletically he was ready for the callup.
I'm not disputing the athletics. I can tell you one thing, there are a lot of goalie coaches who would say the kid got extreme talent, but no head on his shoulders yet! When he was in the AHL, Sammy did not develop his mental game because he hardly knew any English. There is a lost in translation if you have a Russian interpretor explaining to the goalie what the goalie coach is saying. All the great goalies of the past will tell ya the same thing that a goalies mental game has to be stronger than his physical game to stick a long time in the NHL. As soon as Sammy faced mental adversity with the Caps, he failed. Now with the Leafs, Sammy has faced great mental adversity and he's failing again! Even at age 26 he needs some Russian mentors to help him get his mind set right again. I would even suggest a sports psychologist to try to help him.

But that would breach his contract and he would be giving up a lot of $. And isn't there an agreement with the KHL to honor each others contract.

I admit that this is just talk. I suspect the Caps are stuck with him at least through this season.

I understand your point about his development path, but this particular kid had KHL options (and we had a need)….he wasn’t toiling in Hershey for years if you wanted him to stay in NA…he still has no head on his shoulders….dude just never was a true #1…..all the physical tools, very little upstairs.

He needs an Arturs Irbe to coach him. Unfortunately, Irbe coached for the Caps a good 5yrs too early!

I was thinking Strome given that he leads them in goals, PPGs, GWGs. And second in points. But Wilson is sort of iconic at this point.

How could anyone be an all star from this squad. Should have been Lindgren I guess
It should be Lindgren but he hasn't played enough with the multiple injuries. Fans of other NHL teams will be livid with Wilson being a Metro All-Star!

Where is the All-Star Event being held in?

I mean, I think he's definitely been their most impactful player over the entire 200 ft of ice. (Besides goalies)

Add on the baggage which makes it all the better.

I agree he has a certain cache around the league.

Goes from goon with multiple (usually deserved) suspensions to making the All Star Game based on who he is.

If you were waiting for Samsonov to be mentally ready for the NHL, he would have never played a game in the league.

Some goalies are just athletically great but mentally midgets, and lack the ability to pick up their game when things go against them. It's not just Samsonov but Vanecek too who fit that category and you are seeing it again this season.

Kuzy would be KHL's best player instantly if he wanted I think. So some team will pay through the nose Im sure. But will he justify that with his play? :P

Imagine Fedorov gets Kuzy in his team. Best city in the world and lots of money. Sounds like a no brainer. Certainly no AHL.

Holy shit. Road to the Playoffs certainly isn't easy.

Next 5 games:

Carolina Hurricanes - 4-game winning streak, points in 9 of last 10 games.

Los Angeles Kings - 8th (point %) in the league. Arguably one of the biggest Cup favourites.

Seattle Kraken - 6-game winning streak, points in 10 of their last 10 games.

New York Rangers - 1st in the league.

New York Rangers - Same match-up again.

This.

2 time All-Star Tom Wilson is a trigger warning for the mains.

Under the radar: Ovie not selected. How many times has he not even been picked as an AS? Not because suspended or refusing to go or any other thing...just didn't play well enough? Can't be more than once or twice.

Is the KHL that bad? He doesn’t look like he wants anything to do with Hockey, much less be good at it.
