From Winnipeg's side I could definitely see something around the 1st + Prospect + additional piece standard structure. Not sure if that's what the Islanders would be looking for though. Just not prospects like Yager or Salo, and not a roster guy like Perfetti. Something around 1st + Barlow + a Barron/Kupari/Heinola etc level third piece.

Nelson and Pulock would be nice positional fits as well, although I know there is some fatigue with a lot of fans in regards to continually spending assets on rentals (and I don't think many would want to lock in Nelson at a big ticket when he's turning 34 next season.) That's not to say that the Jets might not still circle back to the Islanders if Lou decides to look for a trade. Chevy has traded 1sts for rentals before.

Pulock is tough because it's possible the Jets are trying to re-sign Pionk and I'm not sure there is cap space for an extended Pionk, Pulock, and Demelo on the right side (and I don't think moving Demelo and his contract makes sense). And Salo is very likely going to be knocking on the door next year as well. And then you add in Pulock, his LI wife I believe and his trade protection. All that makes it really tricky.

Nelson & Pulock would be nice adds, but zero interest from me personally in Horvat. In a trade like Nelson & Pulock I wonder if a guy like Pionk goes back to NYI as part of the package to balance cap and help return value to NYI, then they either resign him or flip him.

All fair. I’d do Horvat for the first, lambert and like Mason Appleton or something. I’m also not a Horvat fan, some Isles fans will disagree, but he’s being paid like a line driver and he’s not. He’s a high character finisher that needs someone to draw the heat off of him and get him the puck.

That said the Isles have that guy in Barzal, and they’re kind of a perfect match for each other. Barzal can’t take draws and usually won’t drive the net - Horvat can’t make a zone entry or skate with the puck. Still, if the right offer is there I think Horvat could go. I feel like he only has 2 or 3 years left living up to his contract after this one.

Yeah, that’s where I’d go also. Nelson as a rental and Pulock to fill our RHD hole.
Send Pionk back as part of the package and readdress the 2C issue in the offseason after UFAs and RFAs have been dealt with and our cap situation is more clear…maybe re-signing Nelson becomes an option, but I wouldn’t be acquiring him with that in mind.

As for Horvat. He could be good with Ehlers though…Ehlers has the speed and drive to get the puck into the zone…but Horvat wouldn’t be my first choice to target.

Boeser would be a fit with Horvat, they played together before.

But then Boeser is also a perfect to play with JTMiller as well.
