Nah, I meant that GMBM was part of the staff when Laich was "core". So he had a connection to him when he traded him.

Let me add: When Orly was with the Caps last year, he was showing signs of wear and tear/aging. Some of it probably had to do with playing for a crappy team, knowing some games you had little chance of winning. He was rejuvenated with Boston, but didn't have a good playoff series. And here we are today...struggling with the Canes. So, my answer is no.

Depends on if some of the injuries on defense are long-term. Are Edmundson, Fever, and TvR back soon? Trading Kuzy for Orlov is a wash in terms of AAV and term and leaves them with a pretty inexperienced center lineup; I assume it would be Strome, McMike, Protas, and Dowd.
Orlov is one of my favorite Caps of all-time but I don’t think he’s a big difference maker for them with this roster.

I was Orlov's biggest supporter but I think they avoided a pretty big mistake by letting him walk. Re-signing him really only made sense if they were going all-in this season, which clearly they aren't.

I'm not really surprised that there are still so many hard core Ovie trolls out there. That thread is a giant flaming dumpster fire. I hope they leave it open so we can bump it at the end of the season and laugh.

The political stuff is just ridiculous and I am quite sure it's used as an excuse to portray Ovie in a bad light.
I mean, glasshouses / stones - the countries we live in and what's going on around the world at the moment. I'm not sure any of us are entirely innocent or absolved of some level of complicity.
This board - and the mains - should be a place to get away from all the negative bs that's (still) happening in the world (and will continue to happen)
Team have been surprisingly good lately. Just need to get more pucks in the net. Of course Caps have been one of the unluckiest teams and have a way higher expected goals for. Still only 30 goals (2 goals from shootout wins) and only Sharks have scored less than Caps so far.

Orlov didn't deserve to be the first "core" veteran to be let go, but letting him go was the right move.
I honestly wouldn’t. Getting Mantha’s cap space back next summer is more important than either player.Should we trade Mantha for Orlov?
Honestly, anyone could do better than oshie in that spot. He's been abysmal this season.

Honestly I'd be happy to be wrong about him. Who wouldn't want young talent for free? He's been noticeable in a good way the past couple of games. Not sold yet, but more hopeful to be sure.

I'd like to see TJ Oshie get a nice long rest to heal up his back. Maybe pull a Mark Stone or Patrick Kane and miraculously come back at the beginning of the playoffs if Washington sneaks in.
In the meantime have Wilson play PP1 and see what he can do. Can't get any worse than it is now!

Ugh, it's tough to watch.
Dude is a legend and we probably don't have a Cup without him. But, man, he seems to be as bad or worse than Backstrom.
Hope he can turn it around.

Agreed. Watching the Cup core fall away is so sad. But also, how incredible is our captain? He was here before all of them and will still be here and effective when they're gone. Way back when, Zubrus called him a freak of nature, but he couldn't have known how right he was. Simply sensational.
