I do think we are seeing with Carberry that the best players will be on the ice. Oshie got moved to third line today as he should. I was even thinking playing Oshie on 4th line and then NAK came up and wrecked that. We’re banged up now. As we get healthy Oshie could find a seat for a game or 3. Probably part of rotation with Martha and Phillips when fully healthy. maybe Protas. But regardless it will be nice to be healthy.

Could Kuemper be held out due to being in trade talks? Like Kuemper to EDM for Nurse + a high pick or something like that?
Pick would need to be #1 overall to take on that contract.

But no. Nurse is literally the most untradeable player in the league because of that contract. Not only the term is absolutely brutal but the fact that he even has a full NMC there.

and he would help in no way

Trivial but interesting stat:
both of Malenstyn's goals came within 16 seconds of another Caps goal

Malenstyn - Dowd - NAK
has been an instant impact; Dowd has been a great 4C for a few years now, Malenstyn had a great run last season showing his potential until his hand injury; this season he's hitting his stride, throws the body, cpl of goals, and he's got some speed, and same with NAK; NAK's been keeping out of the box which was one of his biggest problems last year
LOVE a physical 4th line, it's like NYI's identity line except not over the hill, overpaid, and ineffective anymore ;)

Apparently Kuemper left practice in a significant amount of pain. Might be seeing a lot of Chucky Sideburns in the near future.

Also Mantha's eardrum exploded but I guess that's not that bad of an injury since he's set to return?

I perforated my ear drum diving once. More uncomfortable than painful but taking a slap shot to the dome sounds way worse! Worst part about it for me was the vertigo I got sporadically over the few weeks following the injury.

I had my ear drum rupture when I was younger due to pressure or something like that if I remember what the Dr said back then. Painful as hell remember waking up in the middle of the night feeling like half my head was beat in by a bat. Not a fun thing to deal with for sure.

Sounds like kuemper took a slap shot to the area
It was to an area that was not padded and from what I read he had so much pain that he had to be helped off the ice. The only area that's not padded is the back of the knee and a bit higher up on the back of the thigh. Possibly another player inadvertently shot a puck that hit Kuemper from behind based on what I have read.

Has there been an NHL or even Olympic hockey broadcast that was 4k/60fps ever yet?
Doubtful, I'm also doubtful to it affecting broadcast. Last I checked they were still broadcasting in 720p.

This is the one sport where high resolution and frame rate actually matter, but the league is constantly 10 years behind on everything.
