kind of wild if Kuzy is suspended without pay. I get that an agreement happened in regards to his problems and I also think rules are rules but im sure plenty of people on here have experienced someone they know going through the Drug/Alcohol ride and its honestly a disease. sometimes these guys cant help it and the league wants them to voluntarily seek help at the risk of their careers. Dont know Kuzys situation but would think taking pay away from players for a 2nd offense would definitely deter players from getting help in the first place if it makes their name a target in the future.

It's not for 2nd "offense" or voluntarily seeking help, it's for violating the league policies and/or the terms of rehab or whatever in Stage 1.

And he still gets a stipend, just not full salary.

Here's a crazy, possible scenario. Kuzy has been openly critical of the management. He has requested a trade several times. He is a thorn in their side. He hasn't played well enough to be traded.

They see social media posts and videos of him enjoying his All-Star break in Miami with Orly. A sample cup is waiting in his stall upon return. He refuses, calls agent, and is in the program again.

Caps get him off the books for the year. Flexibility. Just a wild idea, not a fact.

I'd say there's probably a better chance spending some time with BFF Orly who may have encouraged him he needed to get some help.

I'd be very surprised if Orlov was a drug user.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t some back door things happening. All speculation and thoughts all of my own. NHL wants to see OV get the record. Good for business. Everyone knows Caps are sattled with a couple of bad contracts. NHL helps pave a way to take both off the books. We get a lot of flexibility and options. Helps us get aggressive while OV is here.

To me it is the hit in the head that gets him suspended. Fine with the hit for the BS. But can’t hit him in the head with your stick today.

Interesting development with Wilson only having three points in his last 24 games.

Dowd's line plays much more than Sgarbossa and Pacioretty though and has a far more important role in games (i.e. showcasing our potential best trade asset).

Yeah, it actually makes a lot of sense having Wilson there. That line sees a lot of ice time, and Wilson fits in.

so question.....not as up to speed on the whole LTIR/Cap Space/Usable Cap space as a lot of you. capfriendly says $11,847,500 and then 10,675,000 is coming off the books when the season ends. If Backstrom and Kuzy stay out, is the combined number what the caps have to work with or is the Kuzy backstrom money just to help in season? Appreciate the info (more then that with the RFAs but assumed they would resign some of them)

The McKinnon line crushed the Caps last time, so yeah, this makes sense. 4th line will be great and score half of our goals tonight! Haha.

Would seem like NAK is on thin ice for an extension. he hasn’t been terrible, but this isn’t a promotion to the third line. It is playing NAK over Phillips on third line and to shore up 4th line.
