No news except that they’ve recalled a goalie from Hershey. Potential good news for Darcy is that he and Fehervary both got hurt on the same night and Fehervary is on IR but Keumper isn’t.
Ok understood sire. Thank you for the answer also and toughts. I think Lindgren might play the philly game and then kuemper is back at cha.

The Fehervary injury looked pretty bad, and I wonder if he wouldn't be on LTIR if they needed his cap space to make a recall. Reports are he was in a sling on the way out of Calgary.

Kuemper's injury is almost surely a concussion (or concussion-related symptoms), so it could be one or two games or it could be a lot longer.

You sure? Because here he's openly stated he has to move someone, though I'm sure you response will be "that's obvious".

Or we can go back to prior to the Dillon trade where he had openly told the media that he was looking for defense. Or when he's openly talked about making a player for player trade to get a shake up (Burakovsky, that never materialized). Or he's said he's only looking for 13th and 7th style guys.

He has routinely been blunt about what he's trying to do, or blunt for a General Manager. You can play it off as playing the game but it's just flat out not been reality with him.

Seriously? That's from right before the season in 2019 (1yr into his new role) and they were over the cap. Everyone knew they had to move someone because those are the rules. It's not a secret.

As he gets more experience he gets better at both managing the cap and refraining from tipping his hand in other ways. Ted went through the same learning curve as an owner. You learn to pick and choose what you divulge. Sometimes a public statement puts pressure on an existing negotiating partner, sometimes you don't want anything in the wild.

Again, there's a difference between now, the TDL, and the offseason. I already noted that. If you know what I'm going to say then you should know what I've already said, right?

Dillon was from the summer/offseason. You'll have to cite the others.

Nice gotcha.

Trading Kuzy can get you where Backstrom cant play, Strome choses greener pastures and youre left with who exactly as you top-6 centers?

Oshie, Mojo and CMM ofc!

Hard to trade for top-6 center.

In other words its a blow to the 895 strategy. Very risky.
So, people around the team, like May and Walton keep saying how good Nick looks, and is recovering better than expected. Given their ties to the org, I’ll believe it when I see it.

But what if Nick could play another year or two, and help buy the kids (CMM, Lappy) some time to step in. Plus we re-sign Strome. Then maybe you could move Kuzy.

Kuzy on the wrong side of 30 scares me - as his elite skating starts to decline, he doesn’t seem to have the vision/IQ/shooting to adjust and help compensate his overall game.

Moving him may be a nonstarter with Ovi, and maybe a new coach could get more out of him. But, right now at age 30, he barely looks faster than Mojo, and Milano blows him out the water. Without that elite skating - how effective is he?

But...why...? He brought these guys in, he wanted them to be played, but he can't force them to get a sweater. Anyone who goes on about trading people that the coach is leaning on to force his hand don't seem to get that'd get you fired and black balled from the league quicker then just trying to cycle in someone they can both agree on. I can't fault a GM for trying to find players the HC would play.

As I said in another thread, you have to judge a GM (and even a coach to an extent) more off the process then the outcome a lot of the time. GMBM has shown a really good process and has generally had alright outcomes. Lavi on the other hand I've never been a fan of his process here and his outcomes are starting to tank.

So why is the GM hiring a coach who has no interest in playing the guys he is bringing in?

Some said this earlier, but getting them to play is not GMBM‘s job. The players ultimately have to earn time. Lavi has let plenty of young players play but they have to be trusted. he was not hired, nor is his job description to develop talent. It is to win games. But then he Is also developing talent in Fever, Milano, Malenstyn, and Protas. Snively is there and I would rather see him in there than Mantha but not going to sit a guy who makes 5M/year Which is why i hope BMAC is exploring trades and probably hasn’t found the right deal yet. Hell even Strome can be considered in this group since he’ll still be an UFA at seasons end.

We have gotten younger this year. And next year we’ll be even younger with so many contracts up. Eller, Mojo, Hags, and probably Jensen and Hathaway are all likely to be gone. maybe Sheary and all of those guys are other side of 30.

I fully believe Backstrom will play in the NHL again.
I also fully believe that it's highly unlikely Backstrom will be an effective NHL center again. The question that remains if Backstrom accepts that reality after 10 more games or after 150 more games.

strome is an rfa at the end of year (and will probably get tendered/extended unless something drastic happens)

Remember he’s getting paid alot to just ponder that reality.

Hi All, Random question apologies for dropping it in this thread. I wasn't sure where to put it. I have an autographed Ovie winter Classic jersey and I want to frame it. I was wondering if anybody could point me in the direction of a place to have this done. I've called a couple of places and the price ranges from $300 to $700. I'm more concerned with getting a quality job done than the price. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

And you just know if Laviolette is still coach he'll get all 150 games. Even if he's completely ineffective.
