Domi becomes a very interesting piece if they do intend on trying to make a little run, especially if the goal from CHI is a second and he goes for less than that. Even with his UFA status, if it’s a buy-low option, would be fun for the stretch run.

Opposition’s heads would explode between him and Big Tom.
That ship has left the harbor. Caps need to just pay attention to the waiver wire for replacements for McIlrath and Irwin, unless it's their intentions to be in the running for Bedard, then just stay pat.

Have a good feeling about Frank. Too bad we cant see him up this season.

I have no idea what to expect from next season. The problem is not much will change so we are likely going through some groundhog day-seasons. The upside is that we still live and die by our ”star players”. I still believe they can be a really good team and many of the guys underperforming arent yet done, just having a rough slide. Just need to turn it over and start having fun and winning games again. But as we’ve seen thats far from sure bet thats what they’ll do..

We really need a guy like Frank to come out of nowhere and deliver us a another gear, another fresh breathe.

I would absolutely agree about embracing the tank, but Lavi is playing vets and all the guys are talking about making the WC with a run. Kind of a weird situation, but it would be hilarious.

New blood at coach will go a long way in integrating a bunch of our youth talent that can take the burden off of our lovely old farts.

As for new coach, id be in for being the brave wild team to give Jukka Jalonen a chance. Rather than go with another familiar coach who have already gone full circle.

That would be different!

As for the ”debate” above on this forum.. propably the healthiest thing for us all is to accept and even embrace the mediocricity. Because thats what we will be for the next years. Our best chance is to be mediocre enough to make it to the playoffs and then just get hot and lucky. And thats fine. Thats where most teams are. And getting rid of Backstrom doesnt change that, just is an unclassy move.

Other options are to suck or to rock hard, and we are not yet ready to do either of those things :)

Anybody else feel like McIlraith is playing better than Irwin. Or is this just a Doig-Kiwi thing and they both suck and there's no separating it.
You're forgetting about the great Rick 'I will spear you' Berry!

Carberry would be nice.

At closing time all the defensemen look good.
Been there done that FAR too many times!

Is Carberry an option? I guess they’d have to get permission from Toronto.. and who knows where they are with coaching if they lose in first round

Bring on Sergei Federov maybe he could get the most out of Kuzy.

Future superstar JF Fortin! I remember some people on the old caps official message board thinking he was the second coming of Scott Stevens lolol

Not just him. Doig was a highly touted prospect with Winnipeg and faltered. Big reason why I never take prospects seriously.

I miss guys like Witter. What a player.

Sometime when I'm back in Montana, I hope to run into him at the local store. To me, he's the brother or cousin I never had in terms of interests and age group. I never blamed him for not wanting him to be part of the rebuild, but man I hated seeing him go to Islanders. Witt seems like he be a cool guy to chat with about outdoors and hockey.
