Man, I am excited to see Iorio but that is probably one of the greatest tank level defenses I've ever seen. lmao Probably would have just liked to see AA and Iorio on a line, but I get it. Hope AA keeps getting big minutes and showing he belongs.
Also, we still riot over Protas. Zero reason NAK should be playing over him.
He's just seemed so unabashedly mid I don't understand the need to resign. GMBM has been good at brining in impactful 4th line players in the off-season, would have liked to have seen that happen again instead of NAK.Why not? They have a 4RW opening with Hath gone, and at only 1 year and $1.225M it's not overcommitting to NAK. Even if he gets supplanted, $1.225M is a salary you can live with healthy scratching.
$1.125M, just underneath of NAK's salary. So NAK would have a $100K cap hit if buried in the AHL*hurriedly looks up the amount of money that can be buried in the AHL*
Unacceptable.$1.125M, just underneath of NAK's salary. So NAK would have a $100K cap hit if buried in the AHL
I think he's been fine (even good) when not asked to play 1RW.He's just seemed so unabashedly mid I don't understand the need to resign. GMBM has been good at brining in impactful 4th line players in the off-season, would have liked to have seen that happen again instead of NAK.
Agreed. He's a body who takes way too many penalties. Wasted space and another long line of speedy guys who can't finish.Unpopular opinion, but I am so not a fan of NAK. Think he's so average, mistake-prone, and 'looks good' because he has decent hands for a fourth liner. Not to mention, he can be quite undisciplined at times.
Which is probably my other issue with it. He shouldn't be getting a sweater over Protas right now. If we were in the playoff hunt and going all in? I'd still prefer Protas, but could at least get the argument.I think he's been fine (even good) when not asked to play 1RW.
My opinion on the NAK extension is also predicated on a coach who has a genuine competition for slots, not a competition that's unfairly biased towards veterans. If NAK is used as an excuse to block younger players who could vie for that spot and that ice-time, I will be upset. But in a genuine competition, if a young forward can't outplay the likes of NAK, they don't deserve a roster spot.
With one more trade (Sheary or Smith) or injury - Lavi won't have a choice but to play Protas.Which is probably my other issue with it. He shouldn't be getting a sweater over Protas right now. At this rate, I don't think either is getting traded. With one more trade (Sheary or Smith) or injury - Lavi won't have a choice but to play Protas.
Even if not, at least one of our forwards will be out for injury-reasons for chunks of the rest of the year.At this rate, I don't think either is getting traded.
Didn't realize it was August already. Time really does fly.Next seasons retool is complete and the ovi window just got busted wide open! Stanley cup here we come!

I think he’s alright for that price. He has wheels and a high motor - something this team needs.Unpopular opinion, but I am so not a fan of NAK. NAK fits the MO of some of our 4th liners for the past number of years. Speed, bit of a disrupter but not the best at finishing aka stone hands. If NAK could finish just a handful of the many chances he gets, he'd be a hell of a fourth liner.
There's elephants in the room though isn't there with the core, and certainly I didn't see Hathaway as large part of the problem. Orlov I didn't mind trading though if he wanted a 87252 year contractWe weren’t winning with them. I liked both and would have liked to have kept both, but this roster is broken and not trying to fix it is insanity.
Don’t like the idea of bringing Sheary back.
