Lapierre scratched again. Still think it’s a performance thing?
Was just about to post this, if they seriously trade Lapierre for a quick fix I'm going to be furious.

It’s definitely a curious scratch. I could buy one scratch as being a “reset” for performance reasons but not back to back scratches on the road. The Bears usually rotate a few guys in during a back to back situation.

They did. LuJo stepped in today for Day. Scratching a former 1st rounder to let a guy on an AHL contract in Strome play doesn’t bode well for success

Oh I agree. Questionable coaching for sure but I still doubt this has anything to do with a trade.

NHL players only get better as they age, especially defensemen. McIlrath still has a lot to show in the NHL!
You've got to think Mcilrath is trade related because it just doesn't make any sense at all. Like maybe something got close and they called him up...it didn't materialize and they sent him back. Talks heating up again so he's back. One of our D is probably on the table.
Lappy I'm still buying as a reset. Coach discussed it and it was talked about on the checkers broadcast too. He's got 3 points in 10 games and hasn't looked engaged or like he knew what playing in both ends of the ice meant. He's also at the most games he's ever played in a season, he's at the proverbial rookie wall one would think. The grind of the AHL is a lot on a 20 YO(just turned 21). Especially one who maybe lacks the experience of long seasons due to injuries.

I want Boudreau back to make something of the youngsters and inexperienced olds like Frank
McIlrath makes our draft position higher. Bruce can possibly diminish that. You need to think strategically.
Best acquisitions would be get rid of Irwin, Mantha first off and then sign Frank. Then see what we could get for other UFAs for those teams battling it for a series win.

So the plan is to keep Lavi here to "do that thing he does". Make the Caps worse. Maybe GMBM is playing 3-D chess?
Maybe they want to see McIlrath play few games just because they decided not to buy the every-tdl depth nr7, and use the Hershey guys instead. And to prepare if they decide to sell sell sell.
