The only thing I’ve been a hardcore fan of longer than the Caps is Batman and I love the idea of Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn in a musical origin story

I'm on episode 7 but have been stuck for a while was going to mention that one but was waiting till I finished but yeah it is pretty is pretty creepy and well done and I'm not a huge fan of horror. If anyone likes the Polish folklore featured a lot in Witcher this is a series for you.

Obi-Wan was a fun little series, even though it felt unnecessary in the long run. The Vader scenes were incredible, especially the lightsaber battle scenes set in dark places. Need a show around Vader ASAP. Would be dark, but Disney could do it if they wanted.

Just finished season one…..solid.
First watch through? I’m jealous. I am going to get to S6 after I the last episodes of S4 of Stranger Things drop this week.

I’m watching Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes on HBO. It’s a documentary that’s pretty much 100 minutes of found footage from Soviet era archives and it’s fascinating. Don’t think I appreciated how utopian life was for workers in Pripyat before the disaster. Seems like it was a postcard city for life in the former Soviet Union. And it’s wild how little everyone knew about the severity of the disaster… the Iron Curtain was real.

It’s actually prompted me to watch Chernobyl again… for the third time. Such a terrific show, though I do skip through the hospital scenes now. Saw it once, don’t need to see that again. The actual hospital footage from the documentary is tough to watch but obviously the show goes a bit over the top.

The show creators must have had access to this footage while they were making the show. Too many similar story lines and interviews in the documentary for it not to be connected somehow… one of the main interviewees in the documentary was a young pregnant wife married to a firefighter and she snuck in the hospital in Moscow to see him.

The Bear on Hulu is decent. If crazy yelling in restaurant kitchens gives you ptsd do not watch, heh.

The Terminal List on prime. Funny thing I started watching this and was like 'man this is really close to a book a read' turns out I had read the first book already. I found the show decently entertaining and its actually better than the book at least it cleaned up some hokey stuff. Always good to see Tim Riggins make an appearance in a show. Supporting case was good including the guy on Mayans.

Don't **** with the Peaky Blinders

On my top 10 list of streaming series. Sad that Helen McCrory died IRL. Wonder how they deal with that in the series...

I had no idea! Sad….she’s fantastic! RIP

I’m in S3:Ep4……great show.

fan of the work of the guy who plays Polly’s son…..he’s from Animal Kingdom. cool that his brother IRL is in PB Also.

Just got back from watching a 4K restoration of David Lynch's Lost Highway at the Bourse in Philly.

I'd never argue that it's a great movie, but it's probably my favorite Lynch movie, and definitely at the very top of my list of movies that most people dislike but I'll always go to bat for.

I haven't read comments online so maybe already covered, but I've heard people complaining about how long the last 2 episodes were. I get that, they were basically movies, but that's not the real issue imo.

The problem was how drawn out the final battle was. Vecna bouncing back and forth between his victims to deliver long...dramatic...pause-heavy...lines may have actually worked against the intended effect.

More difficult for me to accept was just how much of a continuity or pacing discrepancy there was with various scenes. The tentacles begin choking the small strike force in the haunted house and it seems like they're about to die. Then we get what was probably 15-20 minutes of additional footage of other battles that are supposed to be taking place simultaneously. It just didn't mesh as well as it should've.

Another complaint I have is I KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO KILL OFF EDDIE, YOU f***ERS. But I guess that stays true to the 80s cliche of the metal and punk guys being expendable elements of society. Still, FU.

Also Dustin's crying during Eddie's death was unconvincing. I think that actor has struggled to find his form since the growth spurt. Same with Will.

OTOH the montage with Eddie playing Master of Puppets was f***ing aces. Perfectly done. Chills.

Lastly, what happened to the General and his pursuit of 11? Are we to believe that a downed chopper and a few blown up vehicles was enough to stop a black ops mission of the US Government? And a handful of kids conspicuously racing from the scene in a cartoonish pizza truck would't be easily spotted well before ENDING UP AT A PIZZA JOINT OF THE SAME NAME? Instead of being hunted down, 11's friends begin openly assisting in a government-managed disaster area filled with soldiers, shortly after a major incident that would likely still be blamed on 11. It didn't make any sense.

Also don't like what happened to Max but that's the way it goes, I guess. I assume she's portrayed as braindead based on 11's inability to find anything inside her mind, but we'll see. The ending sets up for a season 5 which surprised me since I was under the impression this was the final season. Guess not.

Other than those plot holes etc I thought it was good overall. Maybe I missed some things and it will make more sense when I watch again.

Overall pretty decent if not a bit slow to get off the ground. The Vader scenes were a good addition to the canon by showing how he got some of his ruthless and nasty reputation. The Leia story fills in some blanks, and the Luke connection via rumor on his home planet is established.

The thing that bothered me throughout the series was the acting of the woman who became grand inquisitor. I understand there've been a lot of vicious racist and sexist attacks online but this isn't about that. She just wasn't very good at acting the part. She didn't walk, talk, or look like someone who was a dangerous backstabbing villain with massive internal conflict. She delivered her lines with clumsy overthinking and halting, disproportionate emphasis that that made me cringe. She sort of whispered or mumbled at the wrong times and raised her voice and pounded the table with obvious premeditation. Her gait and movements were stiff and wooden and not at all athletic or menacing. And her attempts to seem cool and distant with blank facial expression and drooping eyes (assuming it's an act) didn't fit the dialogue or the character.

Maybe she was nervous as hell, I don't know. The director should've done something about it early on.

I would agree with the acting part was just not great. Then again most of the sith/dark jedi feel like cartoony evil guys like you'd find in the evil boss of a standard D&D module.

Back story fill in was decent and now makes a lot sense Leia's desperation in A New hope.

My huge problem with Obi Wan is that I don't recall any movie cannon that somehow without practice someone becomes shitty with the force. And if you did practice in your dank cave if somehow that made it easier to find you so why didn't he especially since he's there to watch over baby Luke.

I thought ObI Wan was fine. High production value syfy content…and I always felt like the Dark Jedi were kind of grandstanding cartoonish villains anyway….so her acting while corny at times, fit the mold.

I like how we see the Leia/Ben relationship begin. It also really showcased Vader’s insane Force “strength” (And Obi Wan‘s once he knocks the rust off)…

Also…The Princess (Joey King) was fun, but not as good as I had hoped. I was entertained.
