Mandalorian S3 spoiler talk:

Other than the Lizzo/Jack Black thing shoehorned into the season for no particular reason, I thought each individual episode had its moments. But as a whole there was a lack of continuity and some plot holes based on passage of time, among other things.

Like, how coincidental is it that Mando has to go to Mandalor to bathe in the waters because it was casually found out he removed his helmet, and then they discover a massive secret base/project by MG that's been constructing Mandalorian-type supersoldiers and armor? By accident? How long has THAT been going on and was it taking place during their last enounter? Of all the places in the universe....there? Wasn't MG mostly concerned with cloning baby yoda powers before that? Did he quickly pivot to Mandalorian armor and somehow figure out how to do it while cloning himself instead, that quickly? Without that lead scientist?

Did I miss something?

And some of the "going for help" cavalry events didn't seem to make much sense....just not enough time.

Plus when have we ever heard of Mandalorians having jet packs strong enough to escape gravity, or survive free-falls from the upper atmosphere? Up until that point they've been mostly sputtering accessories that aid in battle somewhat, but in this season they were practically backkpack sized space ships.

There were some other issues with timing/resources/etc I perceived around the various "let's rebuild IG" story lines but can't recall the details.

Lastly, not sure now about the full-blown "baby yoda is a Mandalorian" thing. I kind of mused about it's entertainment potential initially but they're actucally giving him armor and I just don't see it going the distance. IMO they need to introduce some kind of yoda growth spurt and have him go into sudden adolescence and become a moody, pissed-off pre-Vader type of rogue to salvage this saccharine plot arc. Just don't give him a shitty rat-tail and wooden dialogue, or allow him to go anywhere near lava.

Mandolorian S3 .. I figured this season they were doing episodes like comic books where each episode was a stand alone, had its own mini story arc, full conflict-resolution within the 40 mins or so.

Beginning and halfway through I was like "wheres the villian? wheres the long term arch nemesis? Wheres the big story arc threading through and connecting all these episodes into a story?"

Accepted that each episode was like an issue of a comic book. Pretty cool in that sense. Last 2 episodes they started to set up season 4

Speaking of French dark horror…..there’s another on Shudder, High Tension…..I have seen it before….might do a rewatch…another good one.

Zzzzzz….is this about Joanna Gaines lol? This goes into my “I’m sure it will be great if I ever see it“ file….

Originally titled C’est Arrivé Près de Chez Vous (which translates to “It Happened Near Your Home”), Man Bites Dog is the infamous brainchild of Rémy Belvaux, André Bonzel and Benoît Poelvoorde. Presented as a fly-on-the-wall documentary about a charming serial killer played by Poelvoorde himself, the film follows “Ben” as he carries out his sociopathic urges on everyone and everything, engaging in multiple murders, pretentious monologues and ultimately compelling the documentary crew to also take part in his sick antics.

In some ways, this so-called “black comedy” can be described as the Spinal Tap of horror, parodying classic documentary tropes as Ben goes about his gruesome day-to-day business while also accompanying innocent interactions with his loving family. The crew even loses sound technicians much like the band kept losing drummers in Rob Reiner’s classic, and there’s no denying the inherent humor behind Ben’s irrational hatred of postmen. However, this comedic façade soon gives way to some of the most violent and disturbing imagery ever put on film, ultimately leading to a bleak finale that wouldn’t feel out of place in a Found-Footage production.

Man Bites Dog -- a european horror black comedy, in english.

it pushes boundaries ... has a Gummo feel for how raw real visceral it makes you feel

if its on Shudder, Id def give it a watch. hard movie to find.

Dune pt 2 looks so f***ing sick. I cannot wait, my girlfriend and I saw the first one in theaters twice. Let’s goo. Also what happened to Blade with Mahershala Ali?
No doubt, bruv! I watched it on HBO Max and liked it so much I saw it in cinema the next day. Seeing it on the big screen added a whole new scope that the telly just can't top.

Apparently HBO Max rebranding to Max has some other perks (May 23rd). Eight times more 4k UHD movie/TV content compared to HBO Max and will support Dolby Vision and HDR10 (natural it is the default). Dolby Atmos for select titles.

Yeah but they punted weird sections of their catalog to do it. Like... halves of seasons of shows for no good reason

Oh weird not sure that makes any business sense.
I happened to notice because I was sort of binging through Impractical Jokers for background noise, and literally overnight I'd say about half the episodes from each season just vanished.

Poof, gone, no explanation, no real rational reason I can think of, just... very suddenly limited. Imagine intentionally cutting a season where you've got an episode titled "Part 1" and then no follow up. It's so, so strange.

Max is such a dumb name. All I hear when I see that name is Cinemax.
Agreed, has made no sense since the beginning, shedding a brand name worth some trust just so people can have a bunch of conversations that basically go
“you should watch this, it’s on Max”
“What?”
“The HBO app”
“Oh okay now you have my attention”

Agreed trying to ditch the HBO name seems foolish.
It's only been the premier name in quality TV/Media for, like... 30+ years. What could go wrong?

I guess I get why in a way because looking at the menu today, there are a lot of channels I didn't expect to see, but it may honestly be better to be like "HBO has acquired these choices for you" and not this weird brandless consolidated TV app.
