I kept up with that series while it as on and would agree it was a pretty fun summer show when it generally played if my recollection is correct. The Last Ship was pretty damn good…..and that’s about as far from a typical show as it gets for me. Tom Chandler is a great character.
OMG….Shoresy is funny. Just started…..I didn’t like Letterkenny but I liked Shoresy because of hockey.

the exercise bikes scene….
”What, do they think we have 3 F’in Rod Brind’amours? Does it come with some Gary Roberts tapes?”
The shit talking in this is of a level I’ve never seen It’s hilarious.
It’s only 6 episodes…..just finished. So damn funny….Checking both of these out immediately...

The League remains top two or three in my most underrated shows of all time. It’s perfect TV.Watched the first Letterkenny and the Kevin Smith comp is super accurate. Lots of lingo-heavy, rapid fire dialog. They could use Smith's weed habit to slow things down a bit, give the audience a bit more time to process what's being said, cuz it's pretty funny. I'll give it a few more and see if it grabs me.
One episode of Shoresy and it's definitely a keeper. Hysterical. It's early to say, but it is to hockey what Brockmire was to baseball. Very inside -- if you're not a hockey fan you won't get it -- delightfully filthy, characters that are instantly likable despite being loathsome in the world of the show, with clever commentary on the sport and the world surrounding it.
By the way, if you haven't seen Brockmire give it a shot. Not for everyone, but lots of fun. It can be up and down, but Azaria absolutely kills it. I think I like Shoresy better, but I'm a big hockey fan and hate baseball, so that might bias me a bit.
And while we're on funny and filthy sports shows, pour one out to The League, too. A murderer's row of a cast in hindsight, the fantasy football backdrop was great, and all the NFL cameos... Really good show.
It’s sooooo goooooood……I could make a decent list of memorable quotes.“We’ll never lose again.”
I never finished Brockmire, but I really enjoyed the seasons that I saw. Can't remember if it was 2 or 3 seasons. Equal parts hilarious and depressing. Kinda like Bojack Horseman, but obviously not a cartoon and with fewer puns (although Bojack kinda stopped with the puns after a couple seasons - although I very much missed them).By the way, if you haven't seen Brockmire give it a shot. Just finished it. Still, well, digesting it so to speak. Definitely willing to give it positive marks, but the amount of people raving about it in the past few weeks might have set my expectations a little too high. Despite that, very much worth watching and has a handful of moments that stick to the brain.Oh god someone please watch The Menu I’m dying over here.
I was tickled by how comedic it remained through the duration, how dark it was obviously, how well it related on the surface to the topic at hand ( and also the food porn) but then how well it spoke to every artist and variety of service industry, as well as a variety of classism interests.Just finished it. Between The Northman and Andor, 2022 was a good year for the Skarsgard familyThe Northman was pretty gnarly. I’d probably give it a 7/10.
Never played the Last of Us games since I didn't have a Playstation, maybe just under halfway through the intro episode. It's great, loving it, but it's also reaffirming the notion I've had for a while... Bioshock needs a movie/series. Yeah I guess maybe the twist is less interesting if it's not from a questgiver/gameplayer dynamic but it's probably still not hard to mask and the twist is next level, would love to see it come to life.
f*** it, CGI backdrops are as good as ever. Give me a Bioshock movie, cowards.Bioshock could be great in either medium but expensive, which is probably why they haven't (yet). That world, those sets... super pricey to replicate that the way it'd need to be done. But I'd watch for sure.
Valve could clean up if they did a Half Life movie, even (maybe even especially) if it was done animated in the same style as the game. Generations of fans of that content, the story isn't so dense that you couldn't flesh it out in fun ways, and it never had an ending, so there's nowhere you can't go with it.
