I don't think I've ever seen a player with less skill in the offensive zone....he makes Tim Schaller look like Mario.

Lose cap space AND a top ten pick only to lament the loss of Jay Beagle? Benning, is that you?
Obviously, not at his price tag..He'd be better than what we have now though..The inability to win the draw on the PK has been a killer this year

Yeah, THAT'S the real problem with the Canucks this year. Like Jay Beagle is the difference maker that is preventing the Canucks from sucking... again. In year 8.

Seriously, is that you Jim?

Not what I said ..but carry on..

Actually it basically is. You pointed out the FO% on the PK was killing the Canucks. You said Beagle would be better than what we have now for PK/FO.

Ergo, you are effectively arguing that Beagle's presence on the roster would improve the PK, which therefore means the Canucks wouldn't be quite so sucky this season.

If only we had Jay Beagle. I wonder who is to blame for Beagle being traded away? Couldn't be Benning's fault, right? Guy never does anything wrong, at least in some poor misguided fool's eyes.

He's a serviceable enough low-event bottom-6 winger who would be a decent asset at $1.2-1.5 million. They paid double that for him to be a shutdown #3C, a role he is very clearly incapable of playing.

Major pro scouting fail.
One mistake in 8 years aint so bad. Other than that the pro scouting has been elite.....

That losing Beagle comment reminds me of when he used losing Sbisa as an excuse. Even if they were some great loss which they weren't, he had the whole offseason to replace them in both cases.

Incredible the lengths that character will go to minimize the critique of this ownership/management. And then claim "thats not exactly what I said"

See? We need Beagle back. He'd be a clear upgrade over what we have now.

Edit: is a sarcasm indicator necessary here? PM if so.

I never said that Jay Beagle was' the difference maker that is preventing the team from sucking'...Those are your straw filled words

I can tell by the replies that someone’s arguing the virtues of Beagle. I thought I’d add context.

Honestly, you pretty much write the replies to your own posts. If only you could "like" your own posts... you'd utterly dominate HF.

To clarify: my post was not directed at MTB.

Someone else should hire Benning and do exactly opposite to what he recommends. The Benning test.

No. It's the Costanza test. Get it right.

Vasilli Jerry is rolling in his grave right about now.

Wait, VJ isn't dead yet?

My apologies. Still prefer Opposite-George to Benning.

Looks like Johnny pays more attention.
So because Dickinson has struggled thus far on a team that is in catastrophe mode (let me remind you, we are 20 games into a 3 year contract), this poster was right to judge a checking line forward on boxcar stats?

No we are judging the fact that he was acquired to be our elite 3rd line shutdown center and it turns out he can’t play center and to top it off he doesn’t put up any points and kills offense for us.
